@mrsjyw: Thanks! I was thinking to pump at night because I'm already pumping one side in the morning and I really dislike being super-full like I am in the a.m. Will adding a nightly pumping session increase my supply all through the day? I was thinking my body would just start making more at night, before I pump.

My body seems to be really responsive to LO's nursing. If he wakes a lot one night to nurse, I'll make a lot more the next night. But I'm not sure that it works the same with a pump?

When I was on leave and making extra for our stash, I'd pump whenever I got the chance. I think it's easiest to add in sessions at nighttime when your LO is taking their longest stretch of sleep.

I pumped at least 20 min because that's when I got my second let down. Test it out a few times and time it, you'll figure out your magic number. Also, don't get discouraged if you don't get as much as you think. My pumping output gradually increased as time went on.

You might deal with engorgement or fuller breasts since you are ebfing, but you could also take fenugreek, eat oatmeal, pork, milk tea, etc. as well if you wanted a lot more :)

Over 5 months after my child was born, I've finally made my electric pump work for me! Turns out I needed smaller flanges.

Anyway, I'm a SAHM and feed my LO on demand. He usually goes 4 hours between feedings, but sometimes wants to eat after only 3 hours. He's not on a nap schedule.

My question is, if I want to increase my supply (to donate), when should I pump, and for how long? I'm thinking I should start pumping at night, right before I go to bed? That would be the best (fattiest) milk anyway, right? And how long should I pump for, to try to kick-start my boobs to make more milk?
