I'm not sure what to do about it, but I have experienced something similar. When we moved from the UK to the US my supply was all messed up from the time change. I would wake up in the middle of the night engorged and then have nothing to feed the twins during the day. It did eventually balance back out, but we definitely had it rough there for a while. Good luck!!!

@Kemma: i do actually have a cup of mother's milk tea every night, but maybe I'll start having it in the afternoons instead.

I've heard of some Mum's having an extra slice of cake or drinking lactation tea in the mid afternoon to bump up their evening supply so you could try that?

@runsyellowlites: oh I know! I don't really mind the night wakings thaaaat much (although 3-5 seems a bit excessive, lol) :) normall I wouldn't worry about it, but I've been doing weighed feedings today because I've been worried about LO's weight gain and he only got 2oz in our bedtime nursing session :( Seems like that's not enough to keep him full for long.

It's pretty common for supply to feel lower in the evenings, but milk also has higher fat content at that time so it should "make up" for having less volume. You may have roughly the same amount but just not feel as full.

Also, it's pretty standard for babies to continue waking through the night well into their second year (biologically anyways).

@Mrs Green Grass: thanks! :) i figured it probably doesn't work like I want it to! I think I'm going to try pumping or doing a dream feed before I go to bed.

I don't think you can stim just a Specific time, but if you pumped, you'd probably eventually make more overall and you can offer lo a bottle after feeding to make sure he's full. It's definitely worth trying!

My supply is lowest in the evening, when I nurse LO to sleep, and I think he's not satisfied, hence his MOTN wakings... I'm pretty sure that's common for a lot of women...is it possible to do something to increase my supply only for that time of day (supply seems to be fine at other times of the day)? Like if I pump after I nurse him to sleep, will that stimulate more milk at that time of day? Or is it kind of an all or nothing deal?
