@Arden: yes it feels like summer here! With the exception of a cold front every once in awhile. Let's hope for more of those for your feets sake.

My doctor told me that if you are drinking too much water that it can cause swelling. Are you drinking too much???

I had this AFTER delivery! My feet swelled up so much, it was almost comical. I just chugged water, kept them elevated, and rubbed them when I could.

I am having some too. My legs looked almost normal this morning, and now after basically being on my feet all day, they are swelling all over again. I basically wear the same black flats to work every day right, cause they are the most comfy. Today I wore flip flops since the weather was so nice here. I hate having to wear socks and shoes.

@Mrs. Jacks: I have weekly checks for protein (last one was Thursday) and BP, and I check my BP myself everyday and it's consistently 120/70ish.
I was concerned when the swelling first got extremely bad, but I went and checked my blood pressure right away and it was totally normal so I guess it's ok.

Watch closely for signs of BP elevation and make sure they monitor for protein in your urine. My *massive* swelling was my only sign.

I couldn't even wear old navy flip flops. I feel your pain! I was preggo in 100+ degree texas weather. My ob had me laying on my left side with my feet propped up as much as possible.

On a side note, my shoes still don't fit but its amazing how much water weight I carried in my legs!

Oh yes. I would prop my feet up all evening, but as soon as I was up, they went all clown-like on me again. I had one pair of Clarks that I could wear at the end -- everything else cut into them painfully.

I had crazy swelling all over that I could press dents into. I was drawing smiley faces and sending pics to friends.
My blood pressure was insane though. Swelling was my only sign of pre-e, I felt totally fine otherwise, not dizzy, no pain, etc.

My feet have just started swelling in the past few days, but not too bad yet. I hope they don't swell too crazy as I need to get into shoes for work for 4 more weeks and it is winter with snow on the ground, so I can't just wear flip flops.

I didn't but a friend did. She couldn't wear anything but flip flops and had to literally ice her feet to get them in her work shoes. She said she would wake up in the morning and as soon as she walked down stairs her feet were so swollen. Dr told her the same thing...as long as bp was okay nothing to worry about. Bright side this pregnancy her feet are doing MUCH better!

I was having just a bit of swelling for a few weeks, but in the last two weeks, my feet are crazy swollen no matter what I do. Like you, though, my blood pressure is within relatively normal levels. I can definitely make dents in my feet that will last for a while and my flip flops, shoes, etc. make indentions. I'm hoping I can still squish my feet into my work shoes for one more week!

If I stand, sit, or lay down for a long period of time, they swell way more. The only thing that seems to help is alternating standing with sitting or laying down. Something about changing positions frequently seems to help.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yeah, the only things I could wear were flip flops...and they left indentations on my feet...however, yes, sadly...still in denial. I was blind!

Mine was worse post partum as well, but only for a few days (I think? then again...denial.............)

@babyjmama: I wasn't in denial. I cried! I couldn't wear ANY of my shoes. I went up three shoe sizes and by the end of my pregnancy (in October) even my flip flops didn't fit.

I was amazed (and mortified) like @artbee mentioned that the swelling doesn't magically go down. My feet and legs swelled even more post-partum. It took a good three weeks before my legs went down. I had tree stumps for legs! GROSS.

Man, that's a bummer! I haven't had bad problems with swelling, but on the days when I walk a lot I can tell my fingers and toes are bigger. I think the only solution is R&R! And having a baby. :)

I had that.... but I live in Florida and was pregnant in the hot hot summer. At 33 weeks my feet were so yucky. I ended up buying one pair of shoes to wear for the rest of my pregnancy two sizes up. Elevating my feet did help.... but the second I put them back down they blew up again.

And for some reason I thought when the baby came out they'd shrink back down automatically. Nope. Its not magic. Its a gradual process and it took about a week.

I knew swelling was normal in the last weeks of pregnancy. I've had some swelling for the last week or two (enough that certain shoes wouldn't fit) but yesterday in the space of two hours, they blew up to unbelievable proportions.

They don't even look human. My ankle bones are invisible, and my feet and legs up to about the knee are just giant puffy stumps. I can't even fit into my flip-flops!

I called the midwife and she said as long as my blood pressure is normal (it still is) there's nothing to worry about, just elevate my feet and drink lots of water.

This is insane. I will literally have to go to my appointments and to the store barefoot or something...

Anybody experience truly crazy swelling in pregnancy?
