@lindsayinny & @linseykaye - bummer. I wonder if maybe they do have it available but only for some states? Their website shows it as an option for individual plans...but then it isn't a ticky box option if I click through to request a rep to contact me about plans. :/

Any other bees have better luck finding an individual policy?

@LindsayInNY: I think you're right - I tried to look into obtaining one through Aflac but it wasn't an option. My company stopped offering it a couple years ago because there wasn't enough interest and I actually didn't ever find an individual option (I am in FL).

I don't believe Aflac has an individual STD plan anymore (if they previously did). Only through employers.

My sister also did Aflac. I didn't get on the ball fast enough while TTC and got knocked up before we could enroll but I hear all good things about it!

@lilyofthewest: The biggest one I've heard of is Aflac.

Has anyone purchased an individual short term disability plan?

I do have STD coverage through my employer, but, the coverage is kinda cruddy and wouldn't give me a lot of financial support for new parent leave. I'm trying to find an additional individual plan that would provide a better cushion.

Sweetie and I are planning to start TTC sometime in the next few months. I've heard that if you purchase an individual STD plan, you need to have it before you get knocked up -- so, I'm trying to shop now. However, I'm having trouble finding information about which companies even offer individual (rather than group) coverage at all. Any leads?
