@anonysquire: It tends to reduce their anxieties (bolting for the door, crying at the window, fighting with housemates, etc), but as far as being lovey dovey and having a personality- nope! Activity level hasn't changed with any of ours, one is fat and lazy, one is skinny and super active, and one is a cuddler.

I can't even imagine putting up with a female cat in heat in my house- mine was in heat for four days while I waited for the surgery appointment, and she drove. me. absolutely. insane.

@anonysquire: oooh, that can certainly be contributing to the problem! I would definitely consider getting the ladies spayed. Don't worry about their size, we routinely spay and neuter 2 pound kittens and they do just fine!

@LittleFox: Well the oldest girl is the same age as the boy (2.5 years) and the baby is almost a year. I have no idea when they become sexually mature but the oldest girl has been in heat several times.

Could the girls be nearing sexual maturity and making the boy a little crazy if their scent changes or whatever? I know the male is fixed, and maybe cats are different, but my male dog would still go crazy over a female dog in heat even years after he was neutered. He was a rescue and was already an adult by the time we got him and had him fixed, so that could've affected it, but it's possible your male is still noticing the changes in the females.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: The boy is fixed, he is the one we are having the most trouble with. To be honest I am too scared to get the girls fixed. They are soooooooo tiny for their age. Hence their names: Minny and Tiny.

@Cherrybee: lmao! The cats have a full dish of food 24/7. DH would definitely raid the fridge!

@Dandelion: We have way too many toys and a tiny cat tree and give them catnip sometimes. But when we give them catnip they all turn on us and try and slice us to death. They always have food and water but I'll try giving them a snack!

@mrs. 64: So should I not let them sleep during the day?

@Bookish: Yes but it's freezing in there! Like way super cold. And I would miss them lol. Sorry I'm not making this easy!

@lemondrop: I feel like I'm constantly playing with them. It's just the early hours where they all wake up and chase each other and jump on us and jump into the windows and bite any of our skin that is uncovered. Maybe they need more Trenton?

We feed them a bedtime snack of their perscription dental diet (Science Diet t/d) right before bed. Ours get annoying in the early morning when they get hungry, we've found that a bedtime snack reduces them acting like assholes when we are trying to sleep.

Other options- a timed feeder can help too, set it to open a little before they get annoying, or hide treats throughout the house for them to find. Or toys they only get at bedtime. Great suggestions above of playing with them before bed! Enrichment can keep them busy and tired!

Oh, also, play with them a LOT before bed. Get some string and stuff and completely wear them out. That'll release a lot of the energy for them.

Also give them snacks that are high in protein before bed, because it'll trigger their natural instinct of eating prey and then settling down.

I guess your husband should get the heck outta bed when the cats require him to! Fetch them some nom! Alternatively, you could lock hubs in another room? Or would he raid the fridge too?
