@Mrsbells: I'm curious to know which mat you ended up with. I can't seem to find the indoor Waterhog mats (I live abroad) but found a similar mat by Orvis, but the price is kind of ridiculous for what it is. I'm wondering if it's really worth it.

We have 2 LLBean waterhogs and I'm going to get a third soon. They're so great, many sizes, great colors. You can even hose them off.

We use a woven rug (small-ish) from IKEA. It's thin, so we put a little skid-proof thing under it. Since they are super inexpensive, I bought two that I rotate out each week (while I'm washing the other). It gets nasty, so I'm happy we have it!!

I agree with @MaryM: to check the clearance if the door opens in. We had to return a couple that seemed plenty thin but we couldn't open the door over them. We currently have one from target that is machine washable and quite thin, but it did the trick for wiping feet. The color and design doesn't really go with our new house but I haven't found another thin one like that that I like yet.

@Mrsbells: Yes! We love our LL Bean Waterhog Mats for all our entryways. We have this one in the navy blue, but there are other styles/colors too -

Oh I def need them since we have regular foot traffic at the front door. I just get them from Target and replace them every year or so (with heavy use and a dog that likes to scratch it).

Make sure you check to see the clearance between the door and the floor if you want something that will work right inside a door that opens in.

We don't have problems with our front door because there's a little bit of a threshold. But I got a rug to put just inside our side door, and realized the door is only milimeters above the floor when it opens. We'd have to put the rug so far inside that it wouldn't make sense to have one there. We put it by the garage door instead.

I have an indoor outdoor rug with a non slip pad in our front hall/entry. I got it from Ballard Designs because I needed a specific size to cover as much of the tile as possible.

I like it because I can move it easily and hose it down when I want to wash it.

We have water hogs from LL Bean - love them. We have a runner for side door, small 2x3 for garage door and a half moon shaped one leading to our back deck.

We have rugs from target with the non-stick back as well. We have one at the front door and one at the side door that goes straight into the kitchen and then more in the kitchen. I love the look of hardwood but don't like standing on it for long periods of time in the kitchen! They've held up well and I like that I can throw them in the wash too.

Ours isn't anything fancy, but it's a long runner from Costco with a non slip back. It was probably under $20 and it works well for us.

Do you have an indoor rug at the entry way to catch dirt etc? Currently we have an outdoor mat and our entry way is tile so its easy to clean but dirt still tracks onto the carpet. In our new home the entry way and most of the living area downstairs is hardwood so I would really like to add an indoor rug at the entrance. If you have one how has it worked out, is it useful or does it get in the way and trip people up. If you have one you really like please post links or pictures thanks
