It depends on how u react to the first dose of provera. I went a year needing provera after my miscarriage but all of a sudden I got it on my own. I took that as a sign and we did iui that cycle and I am expecting twins!

I will say in my early 20's I went off BC and went a year with no period, one dose of provera and I was back on cycle for almost 8 years.

I took prometrium (a progesterone supplement) to help induce AF a few times. I wasn't ovulating because of PCOS and my cycle was over 60 days. Good luck!

I just got back from a visit with my RE today to discuss treatment options. Since my cycles are so irregular and range from a normal 30ish day cycle to 50+ days, she said they could induce AF by having me take provera.

Has anyone had to jump-start their cycles? I think docs usually prescribe a hormone to make this happen? I have PCOS, went off bcp 4 months ago and haven't had ANYTHING since; no AF at all, so I assume I also haven't ovulated. I have my preconception/fertility consult/annual checkup with my OBGYN in 2 weeks and I am thinking she will probably prescribe something to at least get my cycles started, and I wonder if anyone has had any experience with this? Is it a one-time only thing, or do you have to keep jump-starting? Thanks so much, getting anxious about the whole thing.
