@MrsScottish: That does make sense! Going into labor with a placenta previa like that is incredibly dangerous so it would only make sense to have the early cesarean. Hope everything goes well & congrats on being an aunt soon!

@MrsScottish: That does make sense to me, now! I also have placenta previa and will have a C-section by 37 weeks at the latest. They do not want natural labor to begin because of bleeding risks, and if the baby is a good size, they would probably err on the side of caution. I'm sure they are watching your SIL closely and everything will turn out great for her, your brother, and the baby!

So we found out that she has major placenta previa. Se has another ultrasound next weekend then if it has not moved they will schedule a csection for the following week. Baby is super big so they want to get it out. My mom has relaxed now!!

yeah, my mom is confused. My bros comment was "the baby is fine". We see them tomorrow to hopefully get more info, but it doesnt make sense to my mom and I. She doesnt have GD, but even if they are using the early May due date, they are talking of inducing 1 month early, which I know many babies are born that early (my bro and I were both 1 month early!), I just thought it was weird..... more information to put under my hat for when our TTC journey begins.

Funny part- my SIL was stressing as we are taking a family trip in June, and she would have a 1 month old or less as her other child was born 10 days late. (which would be fine) well now she might have a 2 month old!)

Will keep you updated when we see them tomorrow....

If her first edd was given based on her lmp it makes some sense that it would change after the early dating u/s (most accurate way to date).

If she has gestational diabetes then it could possibly be beneficial to her delivering that early, especially in cases where her levels aren't being controlled well. If she doesn't have GD though acogs recommendation is to not induce for non-medical reasons before 41 weeks (and then only if favorable) & they don't recommend inducing/delivery intervention unless baby is estimated over 11lb.

I would tell your sil just to be sure to do her research, know her options, & be we'll informed on the risk vs. benefit of all her options. Most doctors can't get away with delivering that early without medical need BUT some doctors practices don't exactly match up with evidence based "need". I hope whatever happens her & her lo get the best care & options they can. :)

Are her dates off? Or maybe she has gestational diabetes. Almost no doctor will induce before 37 weeks unless there's a true medical need (not just a big baby).

Sounds pretty crazy to me but maybe they think her dates were way off?

Ok I am hoping someone can explain this to me, even my mom doesn't understand. My SIL is KU. Her original due date was end if May. Then when they did first ultrasound they bumped it to beginning of May. She had her fetal assessment last week and ts her they are doing another one at her end if march appointment and they will most likely be inducing her after that as baby is really big now do they don't want to wait. That means baby would be 6 weeks early from her 2 nd due date and over 2 months early from original due date?!?? I don't get it. Why? How?
