Dr told me I would be induced early also due to baby's size and then changed the date just before because I wouldnt be 39 weeks yet. I ended up being induced at 39w4days. LO ended up being born much smaller than anticipated at 7lbs13oz. I'm so glad it worked out with your husband, though. I was going to say, I would totally NOT go back into work. I know you're "wasting" a week without LO, but try to take advantage of the time off! Get another massage, you can never have too many! Nest a little (I wish I could take time off now just because I have gotten seriously bitten by the nesting bug and just want to organize our closet and rearrange our living room). Sleep in, take lots of naps, start a seedy show on Netflix (Gossip Girl?), etc.</p> <p>PLUS, re: the natural birth vs. c-section, I'm no expert, but there's a good chance your baby totally isn't as big as they think it is. And like others have said, you can still have a big baby vaginally! My friend's son was well over 9 lbs and while she got meds (her choice from the beginning), she had him vaginally. I splurged on a Tory Burch wallet for myself. I got a manicure (I had already gotten a pedicure). We went out every night for a date even if it was just the grocery store and then the ice cream shop to share a sundae. We bought a few more little baby outfits. </p> <p>I was really heartbroken (especially because the first induction was to be on 7/11!) and I'm actually still a little bitter! But like everyone around you will tell you 100x (trust me, I know... I heard it!) it won't matter once your baby is here! I was scheduled for induction at 39 weeks due to GD, but at 37 weeks and on I was 3+ cm dilated and seriously uncomfortable. So my doc told me to come on in at 38 weeks on the day she was on call and she'd start me on my induction (pitocin and break my waters). We had everything in place (my parents taking care of Wagon Jr. at home, my MIL coming that weekend to help as well and visit the new baby, my dad stayed instead of going back home and coming back for the induction). We got all packed up and excited and left for the hospital. When we got there my doc explained that there were so many women in labor that she couldn't start an induction. One woman was there for induction for medical reasons (I suspect GD as well, at 39 weeks) and she was waiting too. They checked me and even though I was more than 3 cm still, I wasn't contracting. So they sent us home and told us to come back at 1pm to see if I had progressed any. We went walking for HOURS and came back, and of course I was still not progressing. We went home at 5pm. When I saw my doc the next week before the induction she said that other lady who was waiting (and COULDN'T go home since she NEEDED to be induced that day) didn't get into a bed until 1am (she got there at 8am the previous morning)!!!</p> <p>Anyway. I was totally brokenhearted and upset. My MIL came and left, my dad left the day of my induction because he couldn't miss any more work. My MIL couldn't come back til the baby was over a month old. I missed so much work. Wagon Sr. started his paternity leave early for it so that was cut short too. I cried for probably 24 hours or so. I know how frustrating that is. I thought I was being induced on my due date because of my baby's size and they didnt end up scheduling it until nearly 42 weeks. My water broke before my induction date.</p> <p>That being said... my daughter was 10lbs8oz and 22 inches long and had a 16" head. I was induced at 40+5. I had her vaginally after 15.5 hours of labor. There is absolutely NO reason that they should force you into a c-section because of size. I just spoke with my doctor. Apparently there is a new policy at the hospital that went into effect January 1 that says they can't induce until 39 weeks. I would be 38w6d tomorrow when I got my cervidil and she said that is why she's having to reschedule. She said "you are my first induction of the new year and well, I just forgot" UGH. </p> <p>So - we are set to induce at 39w5d with me checking in Sunday night. She said there is no way around it at all. I've got to talk to my husband once he is in his free period and PRAY the school works with him!! </p> <p>Maybe I'll go into labor between now and then but at my 38 week appt last Wed I wasn't dilated at all so I doubt it.
