@DesertDreams88: if you are at all able to, EAT! I was scheduled for an induction that kept being pushed back because they were busy. Went to bed finally and my water broke that night so at 3 am we went in. I wasn't allowed to eat anything till after the baby arrived... At 3:30 pm. All I could think about from 7 am on was how starving I was! If I ever have another induction I'll eat on the way or make sure I have a good dinner.

LO 1: I was sent in for a 24 hour urine catch for suspected pre-e. For some unknown reason. He wanted me to stay at the hospital overnight while we did the catch. I was 38 weeks. I was in early labor all night. Dialated to a 3 that moring and started pitocin around 10 am. Baby girl was born around 4.

LO2: I was 40 weeks exactly. I had a membrane sweep which did nothing so my doc wanted to schedule an indiction. I went in around 630pm (on time). I was dialated to a 3 so they decided not to do the Cervadil like they planned. They started pitocin at 5 am. Baby girl was here at 945 am.

Thanks for everyone's input! Just waiting for that phone call now... I'm 90% effaced, with baby "down low" / engaged. I was only 1 cm dilated last week, but that was before my membrane sweep and losing some of my mucus plug..... so I'm hoping for more dilation when I get to the hospital tonight.

Induced at 37 weeks for Cholestasis. On a Friday it was scheduled for that Sunday night.
Started around 11pm. Mine is a bad example - I had zero dilation, wasn't effaced at all. So I just wasn't dilating and my cervix was still very high. Water broke on Monday late morning. Finally got to 10 CM Tuesday afternoon. But still just wasn't budging after 2+ hours of pushing and I spiked a fever (they were worried that my water had been broken for more than 24 hours). So ended in a c section.
But fwiw I think that it's all because it was early at 37 weeks. My baby and my body weren't ready, but we still had to get him out because of Cholestasis. At 41 weeks hopefully you're much more favorable!

Induced at 42 weeks. Went in at 8 am, had water broken and pitocin drip started. I was between a 1-2 and I think 50% effaced-not too sure on that one. I was in active labour at 5 pm. Fully dilated and pushing at 1 am. Baby got stuck (but I guess wasn't low enough for an assisted delivery) after 2 hours of pushing and I ended up having a c-section at 4:30 am because the OB said that was the only way the baby would come out.

I guess it was elective, ish. I had scheduled it because my midwife liked to not let people go past 42 weeks, but I waited and tried to give my body a chance to go into labour. They called the hospital in the morning to make sure they had space to take me. I had more priority because I was 42 weeks, but someone arriving in active labour would have bumped me if they were there.

I was sent to the hospital at 37 weeks from my weekly OB appointment because of severe preeclampsia. So they started my induction immediately! I can't really talk to the timing of a scheduled induction.

I was a little over 40 hours from arrival to delivery (1st baby). They used pretty much every method to try to induce me. Cytotec (twice), foley bulb, pitocin, manually breaking my water, etc. I arrived at maybe a fingertip dilated (if they were being generous) and they could never get me past 4cm (all of which was done manually with the foley bulb). I ended up with a c-section due to failed induction.

D - Baby #1 - 41w - I was told by OB's office to call L&D triage around 7:30pm to find out when to come check in. I called and they said they'd call me back to let me know when they were ready for me. They called back around 9:30 and said to come over. We headed in, checked in, and were sent to triage first for monitoring. I was supposed to get cytotec (or cervidil, can't remember now which one) first to help ripen my cervix, because I was only 1cm and barely effaced. When I got to triage, I was already having contractions, so they skipped the cytotec. I was take to an L&D room and they started pitocin around 11:30pm. They bumped the dose up several times overnight, but still at 1pm the next day I was only 2-3cm and not very effaced. They offered an epidural and I took it so I could get some sleep. I slept for about 2 hours (it's now around 4pm) and then just laid there, still not much progress. Around 7pm, I was about 4cm, so the OB broke my water to try move things along. Oh, somewhere in there my epidural fell out and was replaced by anesthesai, but it didn't take. So around 7pm they broke my water, and about 35 minutes later I felt like I needed to push. I was still only 7cm, but felt so strongly that I needed to push! I pushed for 3 hours. After a vacuum assist to pull him through the canal, I finally pushed him out.

I was 40 weeks exactly almost 3cm dilated 75% effaced, second baby. They took me on time, in the morning, because no cervixal ripening was necessary. They did pitocin for 4 hours then broke my water at 7cm. Induction was almost exactly 7 hours from first pitocin to baby.

First pregnancy, I was induced for high blood pressure at 39w4d. Checked in around 8pm, they did the cervix ripening overnight since my body was not ready at all. In the morning they started some contraction medicine. My body seemed to fight it for a while. I was 4 cm when they checked around 9:15am, pain at that point was unbearable for me with the Pitocin contractions. Asked (yelled?) for an epidural. Got the epidural about an hour later. Checked immediately after the epidural and was a 10cm and ready to push. LO arrived at 10:42. Just over 14 hours, but most of it took place in a very short amount of time.

My induction wasn't scheduled...I went to my 40w appointment at 39w6d and the ob advised I be induced that night due to marginally high blood pressure and said I was a good candidate because I was 3cm and 60% thinned out. I went to the hospital shortly after (around 5), was admitted, fed dinner and was given cytotech. DS was born 32 hours later after lots and lots of Pitocin. :bummed: Ds is my firstborn.

My induction (first LO) was originally scheduled for the evening of 41 weeks - I was around 2cm dilated (OB at my appointment that day said 2, OB on call during my induction said 2cm was "generous." I think I was 80% effaced but can't remember.

My doctor said I'd hear from the hospital around 7pm asking me to come in. It was the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend and L&D was slammed, so they pushed my induction start time back ~12 hours to the next morning (41+1). I was fully expecting this but still had a major temper tantrum when they pushed it back (ha) bc I was terrified of giving birth and had finally mentally accepted that it was going to happen, only to have it delayed. Plus I got a blowout expecting to go in that night but that is a vain, selfish reason to be annoyed about the slight delay!

I got to the hospital around 7:30am, but checking in and getting a room took a while - I was all setup in one room and then we had to switch rooms because there were so many people in labor. By the time all was said and done, the induction process started around maybe 9:30am? I had a Foley bulb first and then started very low levels of Pitocin about 2-3 hours later. Got an epidural around 4-4:30pm that day (can't remember for sure), started pushing at 8:45pm, delivered baby vaginally at 10:43pm. So time from the actual start of induction to delivery was around 13 hours, including 2 hours of pushing.

Overall, though, my induction experience was great and really could not have gone better. Good luck with yours!! :goodluck:

I was 2-3cm and 80% effaced at 41 weeks (first baby). My induction was scheduled for 41+5, and I went in for a NST the day before - they tried to get me to come back that night because they were overbooked for the next day but I turned them down (I was hoping to go into labor naturally). I ended up not being induced until 41+6 (and referred to a different hospital, which I actually liked way better!)

I showed up at 6am, they inserted 1 dose of Cytotech vaginally at 10am. Then they broke my water shortly before 5pm (I was almost to 5cm when they did that) and baby was born at 6:15pm.

Induction #1 - Scheduled for 5:30 am. Pitocin was started around 6 am. Baby was due at 5:23 am the next day. I think the reason it took so long was b/c it was my first and b/c the epidural wore off so my body couldn't relax.

Induction #2 - Scheduled to go to the hospital at 6:30. I had cervidil started at 7 pm and was to leave it in for 12 hrs to ripen my cervix. It was removed at 7am and pitocin was started around 9 am. Baby was born at 5:14 pm. It was pretty fast and thankfully my epi worked this time! So much better

My induction was scheduled for 41 wks but I didnt end up being induced until around 41.5 wks. My dr had a family emergency and had to reschedule me one time and the second time there weren't enough beds or staff. I was already 2cm dilated and 90% effaced by the time I got the hospital at 9am. I was given a dose of cytotec as soon as I got there. I didn't really feel the contractions and when the dr checked me around 12:30-1pm I was only at 2.5 cm. the nurse have me another dose at 1pm and by 3pm I was having full blown painful contractions that were 4-5 mins apart. I was checked again around 4pm and I was at 6 cm! I had to get moved back to my room from the birthing tub in a wheelchair because my contractions started overlapping and I couldn't walk. By the time we got back into my room I was checked again and at 8cm screaming for the epidural. I only pushed for about 5 mins and DD was born around 7:56 pm. She was my first

First baby, induced at 41+1, 3-4cm dilated, and cannot remember effaced. I only got pitocin bc I was already dilated.

Doctor told me to expect a call sometime in the evening (Sunday) but they called at 4am and told me I had two hours to get there. I must have been confused and disoriented when the hospital called bc I was allowed to come in by 8am.

Was in "labor" until the next day at 6am when Labor stalled at 9cm. Went into emergency csec and LO was born.

I didn't vote bc the options didn't apply. I was induced at 37 weeks because of low fluid--I was at the hospital for a regular check up (I was being monitored for the fluid issue) and they sent me straight to l&d after an u/s. Not dilated or effaced at all. It took 36 hours from being admitted to lo being born. First pregnancy/labor/lo

I was 40 weeks, 5 days and went in for a regular appointment and found out I was preeclamptic, so they had me go over to L&D immediately from there. It wasn't elective and/or they had the room so I was taken back almost immediately.

First baby, already dilating/effacing, but they mis-measured me because I have a long vagina and they couldn't reach with their fingers. They started me on Cytotec to try and bring on what they thought was a completely beginner level labor, but once they got an accurate check in, I was already dilated 3 CM and effacing, so they moved to Pitocin instead of administering more Cytotec and waiting another set of hours. I handled the Pitocin until 2 AM when I got my epidural. Everything progressed continuously until it was time to push in the morning.

My induction started at 2 PM on Monday and I delivered 9 AM on Tuesday.
