@cake2017: No problem! DH actually mentioned today that it's been running better recently, so maybe they've worked out some kinks.

@cake2017: We use the Owlet for everything. The Owlet cam is a video monitor and sound monitor in one:

https://owletcare.com/pages/owlet-cam

Just note my little mini review of it above in my first comment, for the downsides to it. The positives are that it's easy to have it linked with the Owlet sock and get all the info in one place on our phones. We can check in on him if one of us is out of town because it runs via the app. I know someone who used a Nest video monitor for this same reason while her husband was abroad.

@cake2017: We try to put him down when he's drowsy but awake and CALM. Calm being key, because if we don't get him calm and he's fussy/cranky/fighting sleep too hard, he will just rile himself up and fight sleep badly. He's pretty good now with us putting him down drowsy but awake and he'll fall asleep fast. If he cries during the night, I definitely hear him immediately. In fact, I always hear him before he's started crying. The monitor has about a two-second delay, so by the time his fussing comes in over the monitor, I'm already awake and listening to him.

@cake2017: They were basically asleep when I put them down, which is a terrible habit but what worked for us. DD2 was a terrible sleeper (still is) and slept so much better in her own room. We could put her down drowsy and pat her back (both were stomach sleepers after probably 3 months) and she would often fall asleep. She loved her crib, and was a great napper.

@cake2017: initially we did nurse/bottle to sleep and swaddle so he would often be asleep and put down (and hopefully stay asleep!) When we sleep trained around 7mo he would fuss and cry and chatter and then put himself to sleep eventually which he still does now at nap and night at 13mo.

@muffinsmuffins: @kayla0416: @Becky: Did your babies cry when out down in the crib? LO naps when I am not on the go in her room. Last night she slept 5 hours in her crib- tonight she just cried so i brought her back in the room.

We moved LO at 11 weeks. I'm a light sleeper and couldn't sleep through his grunts and such. I think we're all sleeping better now that he's in his own room. We keep our door open and his closed, but I often hear him before the monitor. We use the Owlet sock + cam, and to be honest, I don't love the cam. The idea of it is great with the integration with the sock, but it skips a lot/times out if my husband and I open the app at the same time (it runs on our phones). At night, DH plugs his phone in and leaves the app open with the volume running in the background so we can hear when LO stirs. The app will run down our phones in a flash if we don't keep them plugged in. So I guess this is a vote for what I don't recommend :silly:

@cake2017: We moved our first daughter to her own room after just a few days. Moved our second daughter at 2 months. All the baby noises were keeping us awake, and we all slept better (baby included!) after the switch. We've always used sound-only monitors.

@cake2017 the video monitor is mounted on wall so we can see the whole crib and the sound monitor sits on a bedside table between the crib and glider. She can’t reach it if she wanted to but it is sensitive enough to pick up her cries.

We found we all slept better when she was in he space, every family and baby are different on timing.

We moved our first at 6 weeks I believe and maybe 4 ish weeks for our second. We wanted our space back and it was so distracting having him there. We used a hello baby video monitor from amazon but for the last several months we’ve just kept our door open as he’s right across the hall...we can hear him just fine and only use the monitor during the day.

We switched our girls to their own rooms by 8 weeks. I am a super light sleeper and all the baby noises and scratching woke me up! No advice on a monitor because we used an old school one that was just sound, and we definitely didn’t use it at night. Our bedrooms are fairly close and I always woke up easily when they woke at night.

@MACSUNSHINE: Where do you have the sound monitor located? Was your video monitor mounted to see inside the crib? I’m trying to see what is best and what product is out there

Did you notice a difference in baby’s sleep when they moved to their room?

We moved our second to her own room around 2 months. It is all personal preference comfort, I sleep better without all the sounds right next to me.

Knowing that, I also switched to a video and a separate sound monitor. I only use video to peek if needed. We use sound machines as well and I have not found a video monitor that blocks that. The sound monitor clicks on when the sound in the room hits the level we set, I love it. Otherwise the monitor is silent, we don’t have the white noise coming through like we did on the video with our first. Unfortunately I bought it on a whim as a close out/open box item on Amazon but I would look into this option if you are open to it.

We had a Motorola with our first that I dislike and we have the Infant Optics now but the sound monitor has been a game changer.

Just extra- Baby was in PNP during the night, fought swaddle so we got the swaddle up and working fine.

Baby goes to sleep at 630/7- no later than 8 and will sleep until 1230/1am for feeding. She has been doing this on her own and I want this cause LO1 is in bed at 6/630pm.

DH and I wanna be able to stay up and move around with lights on etc. This wakes her ofcourse and frustrates me and DH.

Any ideas? suggestions?

Hello,

Recommend your baby monitor (sound, visibility, long charging cord etc)

When was your baby in their own room?

LO is almost two months. I brought her in the bed with me cause she was congested a week ago and I felt like I needed to closer.

She naps in her room in the crib easily. Will fuss for a few minutes and then down for an hour at the most.

Doc said I can move her to her own room as long as I can see and hear her. We have a lectrofan sound machine- it’s loud cause I have a toddler who has one too. I want to be able to block out the noises between them both. I’m looking for a better baby monitor that will have great sound and vision please.

Thank you!
