The Chicco Keyfit 30 fits in a 2-door VW Golf, but it's in the center, never tried the side.

Just wanted to say that when we were looking for something to fit in my Corolla (behind my husband and myself who are both tall) we discovered that the Graco Click Connect 35 was actually smaller front to back than the 30 (which seems like it should be smaller). Don't know why, but that was the case.

Bumping this thread! I need to fit a rear-facing infant carseat PLUS a convertible carseat into a 2008 two door Civic. We have the Britax B-Safe, but could get another if necessary. Any tips?

@Revel: ohhh! we are surviving in our 2 door civic with the carseat! it's not sooooo bad (i got used to it) except when he was first born and I was still recovering. Now that he is 5 months (and 18 lbs) it is getting pretty heavy, but we trudge on. :)
We use the chicco keyfit (not the keyfit 30, which is bigger) and are happy with it!

I don't know what to do when it is time to switch him to a rear facing convertible carseat though. I don't know how that will possibly fit. :(

ETA: we drive a fair bit and he is in there almost every day. :)

@JustlikeHeaven: @rachiecakes: Thanks! That is good news. I still have payments on this car and it has such low miles that I am loathe to get rid of it if I can absolutely stand it. I figure if I'm only talking about 1-2 car trips a week most of the time, it will be doable, even if it is a pain.

@Revel: they do! that's how I found that the Baby Trend was the only one that was going to fit in my 2-door Yaris. It was still a pain in the ass, I couldn't recline the passenger seat at all but at least it fit.

I've since bought a 4-door Prius, haha

Thanks for the info ladies! It sounds like the Chicco keyfit or Maxi Cosi may be the way to go. Am I correct that Babies R Us lets you try carseats out in your car before buying?

I had a 2009 two door civic when DD was born. We were able to fit her Chicco keyfit 30 just fine in the middle with the latch system. Plenty of room up front and also for me to sit in the back with her. @Revel:

We have a B-Safe, but have only had to put it in DH's 2dr Civic one time. It was a pain. Awful. Hated it. I've read that Maxi-Cosi carseats are good for smaller cars.

I had a 4 dr 03 civic until I sold it two weeks ago. Hated how small it was but loved it pre baby...I drive it for 9 years. We had a Chicco key fit 30 in it.

I have a 4 door Civic and our Britax Boulevard convertible seat is a tight squeeze. We had no issues with our Chicco infant seat and base...I think that would work in your car!

Good luck!

My husband drives a 2-door Accord and we have used our Graco Snugride in it. Yes, it's a pain but it's do-able.

Just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with surviving with an infant rear facing car seat in a two door Honda Civic (2008)? I know that it is supposed to be a huge pain, but I am curious if it is doable.

A few things about our lifestyle. We don't drive much - the civic is the one car that SO and I share. We live in an urban area, so would likely only be using the car for shopping trips, visiting family, drivable vacations and the like. Both of us walk or take public transit to work, and will likely, although not 100%, be using those modes to get the baby to childcare if necessary. We may also have family coming to us to care for the baby when we work, in which case they would have their own cars and car seats.

Anyone have an experience in this regard? Also, any suggestions on car seats for smaller cars? I've read that the Graco Snugride is a decent option.
