I put the coconut oil on and let it settle in, then I'd take a fine tooth comb and scrape it off while babe napped on me.

I massaged olive oil all over his scalp, let it sit for ten minutes, then used regular baby shampoo to wash his hair. A few days later I repeated the treatment and that took care of it for good.

Plus the Mustela - every other day for 1 week and it was completely gone. This was after trying everything else!

We used the mustella shampoo with a very soft bristle brush, I think maybe 2 nights in a row. And then it was just gone! We continued to use the mustella every 3 nights until it ran out (and it took like a year). Never saw needed the little brush or saw cradle cap again though. I didn't know about using oil so we didn't even do that.

With my first, I did the olive oil trick. Put it on, put on a little cap on her and let it soak in for 30 minutes. Then rubbed with a toothbrush gently to remove scales (I won't lie, I gently picked with my fingernails, too), then washed with shampoo and rinsed. It was effective (I think it only took twice), but the scales coming off took a lot of LOs hair with it.

So with LO2, I used the mustella shampoo and only gently scrubbed the scalp with my finger pads. It took longer (like 2 weeks of nightly shampoos), but I didn't scratch the scales off and eventually all the scales were gone but the hair was intact.

I put the coconut oil on her head and went through it with a fine comb. I used the mustela as well. My DD had it bad and I think it took like a year for it to actually clear up. She just had so much hair (from birth) that I could never get to it all and it was hard to see. Plus I think it came back. I guess it was nice that you couldn't really see it since she had all the hair but it made it harder to try to pick/comb it off! I just sort of gave up after awhile and my ped told me that it would clear up eventually on its own anyway (which it did).

We bathed LO 2-3 times a week to use the T-Gel (pediatrician recommendation) as suggested. Then, I brushed his hair in a circular motion daily although I was supposed to three times a day. It took a couple weeks, but the cradle cap was gone.

Aquaphor left on his scalp for 20 minutes and then rinsed off was an immediate solution, but the cradle cap came back in a few days.

You can use a very soft toothbrush to gently scrub it off - plain old shampoo with the brush is fine or coconut or olive oil if very recalcitrant. Usually if you scrub it shouldn't take long to get rid of it. I wouldn't let it alter your bathing schedule.

Pretty much exactly the same as @Mrs. Goose: - I put a bunch of coconut oil on it and let it sit, then I scrubs it with the soft bristle brush to loosen it, then took the fine tooth comb and just combed and combed out all the flakes. The. I washed with the mustela foam shampoo after. I did that a couple times (so gross satisfying) and it pretty much never came back. A bunch of hair came out with the flakes but it didn't seem to make a difference.

For some reason when my son had it I thought I wasn't supposed to touch it, but what finally helped when it got super bad was to use a comb and my fingernails and pick it all off his head. After that we started using the Mustela foaming soap with every bath, but still only bathed 2-3 times a week.

I would let coconut oil sit on the scalp and then after a bit comb their hair. It's hard to leave them greasy looking, but I would try to avoid washing their hair for a few days if I could and it would help so much.

One night I put coconut oil on her head (massaged it in a bit) and then put a little hat on it for 10 minutes so it wouldn't get all over everything. Then I bathed her and combed her head to get off all the pieces. After that it was pretty much gone and any time it came back it was just a few teeny spots that I would either comb off when her hair was wet with shampoo or scratch off when her hair was dry. I'd have to use the comb and do little circles to get the flakes off-with a fine tooth comb. A soft bristle hair brush did nothing for us.

I don't know if bathing more or less frequently makes a difference? I think it may be partially due to oils build up so maybe washing hair with shampoo and combing might make sense to decrease the amount? When my daughter was an infant I only bathed her every 2 or 3 days. Then starting around 6 months it became every night as part of our routine. However, the cradle cap has been long gone since i'd say about 3 months.

I've got it all to try. The coconut oil, the mustella foam soap, and even head and shoulders (as a last resort).

But how should I go about this for the infant? Is the goal to bathe more frequently? I read to make sure to rinse hair with clean water? Brush the scalp (should I do this even on non-bath nights?)
