He hated having his arms and hands covered anyway. Trimming his nails was easy for us anyway, so scratching wasn't an issue at all. </p> <p>To cut nails the easy way- I use my nail clippers (I always cut him with baby clippers) and push the bottom lip of the clippers up against the nail, then clip, it traps the part of the nail you want. It wasn't about her scratching her face, she has a death grip and would yank downwards. We were afraid she'd scratch her eyes out, literally! She always has her hands on her face, even in all of the ultrasounds so it wasn't anything new.</p> <p>I decided against getting new mittens at 2 months since she was starting to open her hands and it's not fixed on that scary grip. I agree w/ PP that baby skin heals super fast, it's incredible.
