Ok this makes me feel better. I definitely wasn't going to fight it but it just seemed strange to me.

Same, by age not by room! We actually had the opposite experience as we had a price reduction at 15 months but my LO didn't move until 18 months due to space ( our daycare has more infant than toddler slots).

I agree, it's about the teacher ratio so age makes no sense to me. ours switches when they switch rooms.

Ours is like this - price changes at the age, not the room!

@yoursilverlining: Ours only went down $60/month. That's why it wasn't worth fighting over for us.

Ours has a caveat that all children in that room must be of the age. Basically the price goes down when they can reduce the ratio of staff. If there is still a young one hanging in the room, they can't reduce the ratio so they don't reduce the rates yet.

This was how ours worked. Our tuition changed when she reached 12 months, not when she moved to the toddler room. I was annoyed but it wasn't worth fighting over.

Ours lowered when she switched rooms (so, not based on age). That seems weird to me because part of the reason the infant room is more expensive is because the baby:teacher ratio is lower; right?

Ours only went down a little less than $100/month :/

DS just started in the toddler room at daycare this week and has been doing extremely well! I was worried about his naps but they have gotten so much better since everyone naps at the same time.

I think our daycare is similar to most where it's a sliding scare of cost per week depending on the room they're in. Therefore, the toddler room is less than the infant room. However, I checked my bank account as they just pull from my account each week and noted that I'm still being charged the higher rate. I emailed the director to ask about this and was told that tuition is charged based on the child's age. So the new rate won't kick in for another month when he's 15 months. Does this seem strange to anyone or is this normal practice?
