@aunt pol: I'd watch her closely if she gets a cold and take her in early, just in case (so they can check her sats etc).

Our little daughter is noisy like that too. She doesn't have laryngomalacia, but she has tiny nares, so she sounds a little bit like a pug all the time :) At least I never freak out about her not breathing, b/c I can always hear it!

Thanks @Mrs. Jacks: so we just listen to her until Christmas 2013? That's gonna be fun! Poor baba... Thanks though! So does that mean its not a particular concern, then? I was worried that otherwise harmless things like a head cold, for example, might be made more difficult for Sive than her sister because of this.

The fancy term is laryngomalacia if that helps. We only intervene if kids are failing to gain weight, having feeding difficulties, or having problems with their oxygen.

Sive was diagnosed with it at four weeks by our gp, confirmed by paediatrician at her six week check. She's ten weeks now, and is generally fine, but I'm just realising how little I know about it. They said she'll grow out of it by 18 months. Great. Seems a loooong way off! They didn't see it as cause for huge concern so I was fine about it, but hearing her little gasps and noises from it is getting harder.

I'm fairly sure this is one of those situations where Google is not my friend, I'd frighten the divils out of myself with horror stories. Anyone have experience/solid info in layman's language ?
