Happy to see this thread... we just traveled w/ our 2.5mo & used the RNP as we have been at home, but by the holidays, she'll likely be too long to fit in that & we'll need a travel crib option. Our PNP seems so heavy, even if we can check like a carseat or stroller. :bummed: I'll be keeping my eyes open for either of those travel cribs at our consignment store or on sale.

@mrswin: we got the Phil and teds traveller, used it with our 3 month old it was great in a hotel. It's lightweight and relatively easy to put together. I looked at the lotus but it doesn't ship to Canada and the Phil and teds is comparable.

@SweetiePie: Agreed! And @mrswin: you may be able to call around, but I've never seen it in a local store and I loved where they were based! You have a lot of reviews saying it's a fave from real people. ;)

@mrswin: it's SO not flimsy! It's a metal frame and has a relatively plush mattress (for a travel crib). My (almost) 11 month old is a tank and it contains him well, lol.
Even if you don't see it in person, I promise you won't be disappointed if you order online!

@mrswin: our largest suitcase would ft the pack and play, but wouldn't leave room for almost anything else, plus the suitcase and pnp alone were almost at the weight limit. Not worth it. And every airline we have flown on has specified that a pnp does not get checked for free, only car seat or strollers do. (We have flown delta and jet blue).

Are these relatives you would visit a few times? You can have a basic pnp delivered by Amazon for about $40 and just leave it there. But a lot of my friends have the Lotus and love it- I kind of wish I had registered for that one instead.

@Mrs.Someone: @lamariniere: Oh I should have mentioned in my original post that we are not staying at a hotel this trip, we are staying with some extended family so we need to bring our own! I used to work in hotels and I know how well the reputable ones look after the pack and plays so I would have no issue using one in that case.

Another favorable review of the lotus travel crib.

We also haven't had to pay to check our travel crib - the ticketing ladies have told us it is a covered item like car seat/stroller

We have the go crib, the Lotus's predecessor. It has been worth every penny, and we have traveled all over with it, including flights. I would definitely spend money for the Lotus. We haven't used our pnp since we bought the go crib.

@mrswin: We have the Baby Bjorn travel crib which is pretty nice and granted, I am used to that, but my husband bought the exact one you linked bc he forgot we had the Bjorn for kid #2, and it was a total piece of crap. Like no baby would REALLY be comfy in that thing. It is cheap and dinky, like barely any padding...You could just save your money and put a blanket on the floor. Bless his heart, he just got confused, but as soon as we popped it open, we were both like, "I can't believe they really sell this as a travel crib for a baby!" It was terrible and we returned it asap.

Agree with @Foodnerd81: & @Anagram: I haven't used that one specifically but it does seem like it's short lived.
I also have the Lotus Travel Crib like @Anagram: and we love it! So small and light you can carry it on a plane. My son is 10 months and we've used it since about 5/6 months. He always goes right to sleep in it.
And I recently lent it to a friend with a 2 year old and she also loved it!
It has a much longer life, super duper easy to set up, and can double as a play pen on vacation, so although more expensive I really think you'll get way more use/value out of something like this.

I haven't used that one, but it seems like it would be really short lived. As soon as a baby could sit up on his own he could climb out it seems.

I saw someone with the kidco one (that shows as a related item) at the beach and it looked pretty cool, but I know lo would have hated having something over her like that.

We only have a regular pnp and have borrowed hotel ones or in one case, bought a basic one on Amazon and left it there for less than the cost of checking one or renting it.

Long story short, we just fit our PNP and a memory foam PNP mattress inside our largest Samsonite suitcase. There's also enough room for his travel clip-on chair and all his clothes so, there's that.

I don't have experience with that one, but we do have a Lotus travel crib, which I can recommend. It's the only travel crib small/light enough to carry onto a plane and it can be used until a kiddo is 3 or more (our two year old still fits really well).

So although it's pricey, it has a long life.

Does anyone have experience with this infant travel crib. We are going away in late August and my DD will be 4.5 months old. The reviews seem to be pretty good but just wondering if any bees have personal experience. Is there something better out there?

We are not taking the pack and play on the airplane because we have to pay for every checked item. This seems like it would fit it the suitcase.
