@MamaG: Pools in our area are so common (I'd estimate 60-70% of the homes in our neighborhood have pools). Our Realtor joked about how he's become somewhat of a pool expert after seeing so many pools and pool inspection reports while working with buyers and sellers over the years.

He immediately knew our pool had been recently resurfaced, but it wasn't a high end product, so we'll likely need to resurface in 5ish years (versus 8-10 years for a higher end product). That was helpful information to know before we made an offer.

@Bluebonnet: Oh interesting angle. I do have a friend that is a realtor, I'll shoot her an email for her opinion.

Pebble tec is prefered in our area.

Before you make any decisions, if you know a Realtor in the area, get their opinion. The Realtor that sold us our house would be able to recommend companies to resurface the pool. He would also be able to tell us what is common in the area and what tends to last longest or have the best resale value.

We have some kind of liner and the coping is some kind of metal. It was there when we purchased the home. It definitely needs a new coping, probably next summer. I'm not looking forward to the cost...

Anyway, would love to see what kind of quotes you've gotten? Pool information, especially in ground is so sparse! I think the best is perhaps to ask for recommendations for local pool supply store that you trust?

We have an inground gunite pool with a plaster finish. We have an issue that is requiring us to do some repairs and resurface our pool. We've received two different bids so far with differing information.

So tell me, if you have an inground pool - what is the surface? Plaster? Diamond Brite, Pebble? Something else? Have you heard of MetaMax? What's your opinion on what you have?

Also, what style of coping do you have? Natural stone, brick, cement? Something else?

This has been challenging to research and so far it just seems like different people prefer to work with different products and that's what they are trying to sell us on.
