When my cyst ruptured it felt like I was being stabbed. I couldn't bend over to pull my pants on. DH had to dress me while I was screaming in pain in order to go to the hospital.
At the time I had an IUD and was convinced it had perforated my uterus and punctured my bladder. It was so painful. Unlike and period cramps I'd ever had.
Hope your pain subsides.

I told myself if it wasn't better by a certain time I'd call...and of course the pain went away. I'm going to guess it was AF related. But if it comes back that bad again I might go ahead and call to avoid ending up in the ER over the weekend.

@MaryM: I had a cyst that caused my ovary to torsion (twice). Both times it felt like someone was stabbing me in the back with a knife and i was vomiting from the pain. Both times they assumed it was kidney stones and were ready to send me home until they gave me an anti-emetic and I kept throwing up anyway. So they did an ultrasound. And the second time, they did emergency surgery to remove the cyst and 3/4 of an ovary, because the torsion was causing the ovary to die and become gangrenous.

I would call your doctor just to be safe.

@MaryM: It totally could be. But what is the harm in just speaking to his nurse just in case? He may not make you come in ... ?

@wrkbrk: If I had this pain mid cycle...I'd be calling my doctor. It's throwing me off because it's during AF.

I usually only have cramps the first day of AF...but I'm wondering since I'm post stillbirth and D&C if maybe it's just because of all that trauma?

@MaryM: I have not but I had a friend hospitalized for this. I think if it were a cyst bursting you would have no question at all. That said, call your doctor to be safe!! Good luck.

I don't know if this is just a really bad postpartum period (it's my first) or if I should call the doctor ASAP.

I've had cysts for the last two years. Pretty large ones (7-9 cm). I got one while I was pregnant, but it started to shrink. Last time they checked it was down to 7 cm.

I got my first postpartum period Wednesday, and the cramps kept me home and on the postpartum painkillers. It was pretty intense (the cramps radiated down to my knees).

They went away yesterday, but on my way to work today they came back pretty intense, and somewhat localized on the side where the cyst was.

I'm still bleeding, so the logical part of my brain says it's probably just a bad period. But if you had a cyst burst or torse, did it feel like menstrual cramps? Have you had one burst while you were on your period?

I've had cysts "go away"...but if they've burst it's never been bad enough that I considered going to the doctor...
