I have gone back and forth on the spelling a couple of times, but I think ultimately I'll be happier with Lu- even if I do have to explain the choice. Louise is a family name on my side, and I've never liked it but still wanted to pay tribute. For some reason Luisa feels totally different to me and I love it! DH and I have boring, traditional American names but we live in a giant metro area where Spanish is spoken often and there are lots of different cultures, so I don't think it will stick out.
