Update: things are a LOT better (for now). I took @media girl's suggestion and whenever I am feeling like I can't fall asleep (or can't fall back asleep), me and my snoogle go to the guest room to sleep. DH usually protests and offers to go, but the change of scenery helps me to go to sleep.

I had a lot of success with the HypnoBabies Peaceful Sleep for Expectant Mothers mp3--I use it probably once a week now, just kind of for reinforcement, but I would say the second day after using that track, I was sleeping normally, and could get myself back to sleep almost immediately after having to get up to go to the bathroom--something I've never been able to do on my own quickly!

I had a rough night last night - could not get comfortable enough to fall asleep, then my nose got stuffy. Finally passed out around 1am (after my pee break) only to wake up again at 4:30 and just wait for my alarm at 5:45.
I had a similar thing happen at the end of December and ended up going to the living room to try to sleep on the couch, watched some Jersey Shore at 4am (don't judge - it was the only thing on besides infomercials) then watched a recorded episode of House Hunters. DH had to work that day, and I stumbled back into the bedroom at 6am (when his alarm went off) and slept until 9am.
I'm also hoping this doesn't turn into a nasty habit.
But - if you can sleep better in the guest room, do that for a few nights until you get caught back up on sleep, then try sleeping in your same room on Friday night. That way you don't miss needed work-day sleep.

Thanks for the suggestions! Last night I was so exhausted I fell asleep on the couch at 9:30 and we transferred to bed at 10. But then my husband started snoring ever so slightly and I couldn't fall asleep. At 11:30 I moved to the guest room and slept soundly until 6 a.m. when the alarm went off. I worry about making this a habit, but for last night it worked. I'm thinking that this is mostly a mind issue.

I would wake up at night and have myself some banana bread and warm milk with honey. I'd just stay awake and read for a half hour while I nibbled.

Have you talked to your dr? I have had insomnia so bad, so my dr told me of an over the counter I can take to help sleep. Its used for nausea, but works to help you sleep too, and perfectly safe for the entire pregnancy.

I let myself fall asleep wherever since I'm having trouble sleeping in bed. My hubby helps get me into bed when he thinks i should move.

I use the computer a lot, and found it was the source of my insomnia a while ago... installed this on all of my computers, and was able to sleep much earlier at night:

@mediagirl: that's a good idea.

@cvbee: The peeing exacerbates the problem too. But on nights when I don't have insomnia I can make it until 4 or 5 am without peeing.

I'm going to try to wake up at 5am with my husband no matter how tired I am. Hoping that sheer exhaustion will help me sleep at night. Also wondering if I need to cut down on night time eating?

Have you tried sleeping in another room when it gets unbearable? I have insomnia problems when not pregnant. If I'm up past 1am, I'll either go to the guest room or the couch. That change of scenery usually helps me get to sleep.

For the past few week I have had insomnia every few nights. At first I thought it was that I was uncomfortable. so got a snoogle. It takes up half the bed and I slept well but on night 3 (tonight) it's 3 am and I haven't slept. I know I am tire as I started dozing on the couch at 11. I wake up in tears and am exhausted. I work full time so this will NOT due. Suggestions or help are appreciated!!
