@Shimmer: Awwww ((hugs)). As a fellow non-sleeper here, I hate this for you! I am 31 weeks and having a reeeeeally hard time sleeping at night, so I can't imagine how much harder it must be with twins!

I am just.not.comfortable. Period. And my discomfort seems to grow the longer the day is, so it is super hard to get comfortable enough to fall asleep at night (I think I am currently averaging 4-5 hours on a good night). Add in butterbean's wonderful, but disruptive, nightly dance parties, DH's sometimes awful snoring, and two kitties amping up the heat in bed, and it is a pretty awesome cocktail for insomnia.

The hardest part for me has been logging 12-15 hour days for the past 3 weeks at work - I feel like a zombie on the weekends, and spend a lot of time trying to nap and make up for the sleep defecit.

To entertain myself when I wake up (so as not to disrupt DH or the kitties), I keep my iPad by the bed so I can read and try to fall back asleep.

I couldn't sleep at all last night, I was literally in tears! I am 32 weeks today. It hasn't been that bad all during this pregnancy, but last night was AWFUL and if I keep sleeping like this I swear it is going to send me over the edge. I went to bed SO tired (around 9:30), but just tossed and turned, had trouble breathing no matter what side I laid on, until around 1 or so. Wahh. :-(

I hit a particularly rough patch with sleeping right around the same time. Waking up every hour to pee, really achey and hard to get comfortable, hungry and had to get a snack, etc. I'd try to sleep as long as I could in bed, but would usually end up coming out to the couch around 3-4 am most mornings. So you have my sympathies - it's rough!

Sometimes I'd be able to drink a glass of milk and pass out again on the couch, and sometimes I'd just be wide awake, so I'd read or listen to a book on tape or watch netflix until I got drowsy again....which sometimes wasn't until like 10 am ;) I just had to become ok with getting my sleep throughout the day too and not stressing out about not sleeping well at night. And a lot of times just the change of position to the couch, or the fat/protein from the glass of milk would be enough to help me get back to sleep.

I will say that I slept the worst while I was self-limiting my activity to prevent preterm labor. Now that I'm 37+ weeks and am more active, I'm still uncomfortable at night, but have been sleeping much harder for the last week or so.

It's 4:50 am EST - I've been up since 4, awake 3-4 other times tonight so far.

I was normally a pretty good sleeper (but a bear when I didn't sleep well) pre-pregnancy. I am about to hit 32 weeks pregnant with my little boys and the insomnia is really killing me. I'm not really evil like I used to be during the day after a bad night's sleep, but I'm pretty useless and nap frequently throughout the day after a bad night. Plus, the painful boobs I'm experiencing right now doesn't help the comfort level that I'm at (which is near zero anyway in bed).

How come I can get comfortable enough to sleep during the day but can't figure it out at night?

More importantly, what did you ladies do to aid in your sleeping towards the end of your pregnancy? Or am I doomed to not sleep well again for the next 2-3 years of my life? /end dramatic tone here lol
