I would make absolutely sure there are no other diagnostics they could do before committing to surgery. She is an endo specialist (not an RE), and basically said with endo your best bet is with IVF and that IUI would just be a waste of time and money. Where fertility problems are caused my endo, it's almost always a blockage or scarring issue, not an egg-production issue, so injectibles, etc. are not likely to solve your problem. For me, endo caused two blocked tubes, so all the time and meds in the world weren't going to get me KU. But, huge ((hugs)) - I was exactly where you are. I put off surgery, despite a lot of pain, for much longer than I should have because I refused to be "out" for the month of my surgery (you'll be on pelvic rest for at least 2 weeks post-op). More bleeding=more scar tissue build up=higher likelihood of fertility issues. A lap can clean everything up for you and make implantation and all that easier! I've had a couple surgeries of surgeries for my endometriosis and I hope yours is no big deal! If it IS endo, and your uterus is covered in scar tissue and lesions, IUI may not even help because you want a clean surface for implantation. That part looked OK. However, he found large endometrial cysts on both ovaries. One ovary is attached to my uterus due to endometriosis. So, I have to have laparoscopic surgery on March 6th and we can't try at all this cycle. He gave me birth control to take until the surgery. He said it's good that we know the cause of my infertility now and that this will most likely help us. </p> <p>A little hard to take when I was expecting to start injectable meds and do an IUI this cycle. But, I'm hoping that this will finally be our answer and will help us get pregnant. </p>
