I still haven't gotten a single bill! I'm a little nervous that they are just going to hand me a (very big) bill at the very end of my pregnancy!

We got all kinds of bills after I became "high risk" they would deny ultrasounds, nst's and the test to determine if labor will start in 2 weeks (the name has escaped me) those were the big ones. Our insurance pays 100% with a one time $20 co-pay so getting bills for $300 was surprising.

Also sometimes they'll reject if it's coded incorrectly, usually the doctors office can re-code and re-bill.

And our insurance required a co-pay if it wasn't directly related to pregnancy in their eyes, even though it was caused by pregnancy, ugh!

One of the things you'll need to watch out for with twins is that sometimes you'll get things rejected b/c insurance thinks it's double billing. Um, no, there are two babies.

I don't know why but a pediatrician at the hospital billed us for "Discharge" a day before we were actually discharged. Normally it probably wouldn't be a big deal but insurance denied the claim because we had just seen the pediatrician the day before (according to the inaccurate records). I am working through trying to get it straightened out but its a $400 bill that we hopefully shouldn't have to pay more than 20% of.

yeah - lots of stupid mistakes. like 1. my husband is an employee and essentially, all things done at the hospital is FREE, but they keep billing us. and 2. any doctor we pick on the IPA is free (copay only) and they kept billing us. turns out, aetna didn't update their IPA or something.

stuff like that to look out for. i'm sure there are other kinds of errors i haven't personally experienced.

Good for you! I swear they make insurance bills as confusing as possible just so people give up and don't question them.

make sure you know your insurance plan and what you're supposed to pay and what you're not. the last 5 bills have been INCORRECT and luckily, i questioned them. otherwise, i would have thrown hundreds of dollars away. in the past, i just paid what i owed because i owed it, right? not anymore. i question EVERY bill. and turns out i saved about $1,000. ugh.
