Talked to the nurse. She said as long as I don't start bleeding or the pain is not constant/getting worse that it's probably normal and just let them know if I have any more questions or go to the ER if the pain becomes constant and unbearable as that might indicate appendicitis. So, here's hoping it will go away soon. Thanks for your advice and hopefully I won't need to update further!

@LibbyLou: Thanks for the info.

I left a message for the nurse. I'm sure it's normal, but better for them to decide that than for me to not check and end up regretting it, right? I'll update after I talk to her.

I had a ruptured ectopic at almost 8weeks. The pain was unbearable and was sensitive to the touch. I was told it is more painful than labor but I can't verify that.
I would go just to check where the sac is at this early stage. Even if the pain goes away it could rupture before your first OB appointment. Ectopic are much easier when caught early and don't cause as much damage to your falliopian tubes. I will keep my fingers crossed that it's just normal cramping for you.
Keep us updated!❤️

@Fielgra: It came and went. Sometimes it was sharp stabbing pain, other times a dull ache. It was definitely more noticeable if I coughed or sneezed, which my doctor said was common with ectopics.

I had an ectopic and was very lucky to have caught it early, I wouldn't hesitate to call. It's most likely nothing serious but your dr's office would definitely prefer you call and it turn out to be nothing rather than ignore a pain that could lead to a rupture and emergency surgery.

My implantation cramping was strong enough to wake me up at night a few nights but I only had very mild cramps after that first few days. If the pain is as bad as you describe, I'd definitely at least call the nurse at your OB office.

@mrskansas: First, I'm so sorry you went through that. When your cramping started was it constant from then on or did it come and go?

Not trying to scare you at all, but I had an ectopic in October and that's what my cramping felt like. More than likely, it's just corpus luteum pain (which is common) and not ectopic since you haven't been bleeding.
Let us know what the doctor says!

@Banana330: Ugh, you're probably right, but I always feel like they're going to think I'm just a dramatic mama-to-be and wasting time. (They've never acted like that, of course; I just always feel bad calling doctors about stuff that's not an obvious problem.)

@Fielgra: I have no experience with ectopic but if you're concerned enough to write this I'd call your doctor. There is no harm in getting seen.

Formerly active member here that got busy and disappeared for a while. I want to stay incognito for a little bit, but I'd like some feedback.

I am 4w8d. I've had a lot more cramps this time and a bad lower backache the last week. I had some period-like cramping with previous pregnancies, but this time has has a lot more of that with some cramping feeling stronger than I've had previously. Yesterday, I started having intense bursts of pain/cramping on my right side only. It feels like it's right inside my hip bone, if that make sense, and sometimes it will radiate down my leg. It's not constant, but for several hours last night it was happening every few minutes. It was painful enough that at times I would suck in my breath when it happened, and I slept fitfully at best all night. This morning, the sharp pain/cramp has only happened a few times but I have a dull ached in that same area - only right side from the front of my hip to the lower back in the same spot. No bleeding at all, and I feel okay otherwise. I'm a little paranoid since it's all on one side.

I know cramping is normal, so I hate to call my doctor if I'm not even spotting or anything. Anyone had an OB/midwife give them any kind of instructions about what to watch for or at what point to contact your doctor with pain on one side? I can't help worrying about eptopic pregnancy, but I know it's really rare so I'm sure it's probably normal cramping.
