@Mrs. Pen: My grandparents were dark brown, my mother is very light skinned. If it wasn't for her father's nose jokes about the milk man's baby surely would have rubbed him the wrong way.

Really interesting!

As a teen I babysat for a family where the mom was very fair, blonde and blue eyed and her husband was mixed race, but very obviously Spanish heritage with dark hair, dark eyes and darker skin. ALL three or their sons were born with fair skin, light blonde hair and blue eyes! It was so weird to me!

Wow, that's neat!

I've heard of mixed couples having twins where one was dark and one was lighter...but I've never heard of this! So cool!

I'm inclined to agree with the doctor that the baby has a form of albinism. The lighter baby does not have a fair/light skin tone that I normally see with light skin blacks-mixed race or not.

My husband ran across this article online and I found it super fascinating and just had to share.

http://www.sowetanlive.co.za/news/world/2011/05/17/black-parents-shocked-when-son-was-born-white

Apparently, the mom is African-Carribean and must have some white an sectors because her second little guy has pale skin but according to the article, he isn't albino. Although the article quotes a doctor saying there are varying degrees of albinism. The picture of all four of them is so cool. I think the little guy looks just like his brother except he has light skin. It's so interesting how genes can mutate.

I've workedwith a couple of kids with albinism and they both had a much more distinctive look that this little guy seems to be lacking.
