@Sugar.Biscuit: you would go to a hypo allergenic formula like neocate. That's what we used for our MSPI baby. Also, it seemed that the antacids (we did both Zantac and Prilosec) made things worse because it cut off the bodies response to the food allergen. I took my son to a pediatric Gastro and would recommend it of you haven't seen one.

I second removing soy from your babies diet.

Edited to add: my son is now almost 3 and still cannot tolerate soy and at least one other food I haven't quite narrowed down yet. But he isn't in pain. I agree that is the worst part. We would both just be crying.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I actually have no idea about formula because we didn't supplement. Sorry! I do have to eliminate everything soy from my diet though (including soy lecithin and soybean oil) otherwise my LO has symptoms similar to what you were describing re: bloated/constipated.

I would definitely eliminate soy! Many, many babies that are intolerant to dairy are also intolerant to soy. Soy is tricky because it's seemingly in everything, but there have been a few posts on the blog about it (MSPI).

Here's a good article to start: http://kellymom.com/health/baby-health/food-sensitivity/

Also (I know you didn't ask this) but I would consider switching doctors...
Both my kiddos have/had intolerances and it's rough figuring it out when they are so little, but hang in there, once you get it and they feel better it will be worth the doubts/elimination! Hugs!

Anyone have a little one with food intolerance? My son has an obvious dairy intolerance but here lately he has been getting more fussy & you can tell his stomach hurts him a lot. Mommy has cried about this more than he has :-( I've eliminated dairy from my diet, its been almost a month now, & we supplement about every other feeding with Nutramigen. They both have acid reflux & are on Zantac. When I talked to the Dr. about this week he was a jerk & said some babies are just fussy, have bad stomachs, hurt & he will grow out of it. Then he had us increase the Zantac to three times a day but I'm not seeing any improvement. After a week if that doesn't work he wants us to try a soy based formula...isn't Nutramigen soy based?

I'm wondering what I should try to eliminate next. His poor belly is always bloated & now he is getting backed up. Any suggestions? I was considering soy but I wanted to hear from other mom's who may have some experience here. I feel so bad for my son.
