Just wanted to say hello and welcome. I have two adopted siblings and I just love hearing that people are considering adoption because it gave me two amazing people. I'm sorry about the difficulty that led to this place - I've been through some of that myself and know it isn't easy. Regardless, welcome, and I hope that you get your baby soon through clomid or adoption!

@mrs. bird: Thank you so much!

@travelingbrit: Thank you! I will look into acupuncture... I keep hearing about it, so I should probably check it out. :)

Oh and if you're also still TTC, I would suggest looking into acupuncture if you haven't already. I know it may sound a litte granola, but. Strongly think that is what worked for me.

@loveletter: welcome! so great to have you here! i'm another PCOS-er (on top of IF issues from DH) and our IF journey was SO hard and really discouraging. but, 4 years later we are so grateful for that experience because it led us to our amazing son. :)

we adopted internationally, but i would ask some questions about the homestudy and its renewal process if your timeline is expected to be longer than one year. our homestudy renewal caught us off-guard because we expected to be finished with our process by the time the one-year mark came around, so it would have been nice to all that up front.

good luck!

@Oceanis723: I didn't even think about the issue with the birth mother fees.. I will definitely make sure to ask about that! Thank you for your reply and encouragement - good to hear from another PCOSer :)

I adopted domestically almost four years ago. The big thing that set the gency we selected prt from some of the others was birth mother fees. Some agencies have you pay for birth mothers housing or medical expenses and other costs. This left a horrible feeling with me because you could spend thousands in birth mothers fees and have her not go through with the adoption plan mean while you are out the money with no baby only to have to go through it again. So we found one that did not have the possibility of those costs.

I would also find out if they are a full service agency or just deal with placement. The full service was helpful because it took us through the whole process including the home study, birth mother matching and placement.

Good luck. I was also diagnosed with PCOS and found complete joy in the thought of adoption!

Hello! My husband and I may be starting the adoption process in the next couple of months and I thought I would try to connect with some other adoptive mamas!

A little background on me - I was diagnosed with PCOS last year, and have been trying to get pregnant for the last year or so. I have another month left of Clomid, but we are pretty sure that if it doesn't work out, we will pursue adoption rather than fertility treatments. The last year has been the hardest year of my life and the idea of adoption makes me feel so happy and hopeful!

While we have been very interested in foster care and international adoption, it seems the best fit for us at this point is a domestic infant adoption. We've sent away for info from several agencies and there's a local agency we really like. We are meeting with them a week from today to get more information before we apply.

I've started a list of questions to ask - but I'm worried I'm forgetting something! Most of my questions are about cost, average wait time, and ethics. For those of you who have adopted or are going through the process - what questions do you suggest we ask, or what questions do you wish you would have asked? How did you decide on your angency?

Thank you in advance for your help. I'm so thankful for a supportive community like hellobee!
