@ballerinabee: That's sweet of your husband to try and guard his emotions because he knows you're already working through so many yourself. I'm glad you guys had a long talk. It's important to be there for each other and to be able to talk about all of this.

The typical steps you go through at the RE to start gathering answers to the question of "why am I not pregnant" are CD3 bloodwork, Ultrasound to check your follicle count, HSG, and SA for your husband. Genetic testing is often a part of the process if you are going to start treatments. And then when you are on any type of fertility medication, ultrasound monitoring and bloodwork are a big part of the cycle. It does sound like your OB is very proactive. I'd also recommend you look into your insurance. Some insurance requires that you be trying to conceive for a certain amount of time before they will offer coverage. I recall my OB offering to do the CD3 bloodwork, but finding out that my insurance would not cover it through my OB. Insurance is a not so fun part of all of this too. My RE also did a saline sonogram when the HSG revealed some blockage in my uterus.

I hope you can get answers with your OB. And that ultimately you are pregnant before you know it :)

@ballerinabee: You are not alone!! But I honestly thought there was a lot of other bees struggling with this. :)

We were a month or two away from seeking help.

I think like you I didn't want to say I was secondary IF because maybe it was bad timing (which was possible I have really wonky long cycles ... like anywhere between 32-46 days) and there are people on the boards really struggling with IF to get their first child.

Again I hope you find your answers and get LO #2 on the way. :) *big hugs*

@Raindrop, @tequiero21, @T.H.O.U., @sweetooth: thank you ladies so much for the welcome and the ear. I'm a talker (shocking, given my novel of an introduction, right?), so it's been really tough not to have anyone to talk to - let alone anyone who understands.

@Raindrop, @T.H.O.U., it's encouraging to hear about your successes! And congratulations
I had my CD3 blood drawn this morning to measure FSH, LH, E2, estradiol & anti-Mullerian hormones. I called my dr's office and she said she'll call me once she gets the results to decide what's next. So, hurry up and wait :P

In the meantime, I think I'm going to use a BBT again this month in addition to OPKs. I had a long talk with DH and he said he wasn't talking about anything or showing much emotion because he didn't want to stress me out because I'm hard enough on myself.

@sweetooth: my OB said that pending the CD3 blood work, she'll probably do an ultrasound to look at my follicles and and HSG as well as SA for DH. She seems to be very proactive (has me taking baby aspirin already), and has already talked through some options (clomid, IUI) and mentioned that I can also see an RE if I want to. Do you mind sharing what your RE has had you do? My fingers are crossed that you'll get your BFP sooner than later. :goodluck:

Thank you all again, so much!

Hugs! I'm glad you said hello - it's so hard to go through this when you feel like there's no one you can relate to. Hellobee is a great source of support during the craziness of all of this. Welcome :)

I hope that your OB can help you start to get some answers. And if you feel comfortable an confident with your OB helping you get pregnant, disregard these next comments. I highly recommend seeing an RE to work with to get pregnant. An OB can care for you when you are pregnant. An RE can help you GET pregnant.

I'm in the secondary infertility boat too. So I understand how hard it is to feel like you can't complain because you do already have one child. But it's hard, no matter what, when you have goals for your family plans and your age is on your mind. I'm approaching 36 and really hoping I can get pregnant again before my birthday.

I'm sure your husband is a wonderful man - but the "just relax" thing - UGH - while relaxing is important, I am a big believer of meditation, so is being proactive. Getting answers. And finding out what's going on in your body.

You're doing the right thing. And we're here to lean on

@ballerinabee: big hugs.

After our daughter being a quick conception we never dreamed that having another would be hard. I never got diagnosed with IF but just bad luck I think with two miscarriages.

I hope that you've maybe just had bad luck and the tests can give you some answers. I ended up going on progesterone, extra folic acid, b complex, and baby aspirin to finally have a successful pregnancy.

Just wanted to say welcome. *big hugs*

I didn't have secondary IF but it took a *long* time to conceive LO #2 (currently still pregnant - 8-9 cycles of partly NTNP and really trying, I have long cycles so this was just under a year) then it did with LO #1 (2 cycles NTNP).

I hope that you find some answers and get your LO #2! :)

I'd like to introduce myself over here. I finally starting testing tomorrow to see why we're having so much trouble conceiving #2. We've been trying since May 2013, and my DH really wanted to take a laid back approach and not drive ourselves crazy, so I went with that. Then I had some back complications, so I was scheduling cortisone injections and RF nerve ablations around the first week of my period, and had to take a couple of months off this Spring to have more procedures / recovery time for my back.

It only took us 3 months to conceive our LO (he's 2.5), so I kept trying to convince myself that the failed cycles this time were just stress, or bad timing, but I've also had 2 CPs, and no success and it's been over a year.

My new OB scolded me for not coming to her sooner, esp since I'm of "advanced maternal age". She wants to do CD3 blood work (that's tomorrow) and go from there. I have no idea what to expect, since we had no issues the first time.

I sort of feel like a fraud calling this secondary IF since so many of you have struggled with so much more for so much longer, but this has been emotionally hard for me. I can't talk to my friends about it, because DH is uncomfortable with people he knows knowing about our sex life, and no one else I know has had these problems anyhow.

Getting my period this week was especially hard because I thought we had timed things perfectly, I would have tested today and DH's birthday is tomorrow (and mine is Sunday), so it would have been an awesome birthday present. And now I have my period for our birthdays, I'll be 37 on Sunday, and the damn adorable Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her 2nd. I heard that on the radio the day I got my period this week, and for some reason it was the straw that broke the camel's back. I just cried.

DH doesn't really understand. He's not stressed. He says "it will happen, just relax". Boys. They just don't get it. He's 4 years younger, and doesn't understand why I'm stressed.

Sorry for the novel. I just needed to vent and find somewhere to talk to other people who understand. I apologize to those of you who have struggled a lot longer. I don't mean to sound whiny or ungrateful for the child I do have, I'm just really having a hard week.

Thanks for listening!
