We use one of my 17 year old students as a babysitter. We had her come a little early so that we were still there when she was. Then, we only went to dinner the first time so that it was a short time. We also talked a lot about babysitters before she came over. Bonus is that the babysitter brought over some toys to play with and that made LO excited, too. But, she was older at nearly 3 when we first left her with a sitter.

We had the sitter come 30 min early and play with LO while I sat on the floor with them. LO did really well - only cried right when we were leaving, but stopped within a minute. (Which isn't unusual behavior whenever I leave the house without her, even if she is staying with DH.)

Wondering what tips folks may have for introducing and acclimating a 23 month old to a new babysitter. She's in daycare and generally does OK with new people but we've never had a babysitter with her before (except my brother in law, who watched her after she went to sleep). Hubby and I are hoping to finally start having a life of our own, which means finding a babysitter to hang out with kiddo during the day and doing dinner/bathtime/bedtime with her, which no one has ever done except us.

I'd love any ideas for how to best do this. We're reaching out to someone a friend of ours recommended and would love to have a plan on how to best get them introduced and used to each other, etc. Thanks!
