I didn't want my guests to feel like they were obligated to bring their children (some moms wanted to have a free afternoon to spend with girlfriends) but I didn't want them to feel like a burden if they came. Parents were happy to be baby free for a couple of hours. My mom threw the shower and she had blocks and stuffed elephants as the table center pieces, so the kids ended up playing with those. She also got kid-specific favors for the kids. And one little girl helped me open up my presents. I enjoyed having them there! I had to ask the hostess of one of my baby showers (MIL's friend) if my friend could bring her 2 year old daughter because they were coming from out of town and no one could watch her. The hostess FREAKED out on me and tried to tell me no. But it certainly works better at a home shower or private room than something in a restaurant, and it depends on the kids. </p> <p>I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.
