I don't like it either. But they do squeeze through the birth canal.

@brownepiano: omg the rib pain/breating pain was unreal!! I had to move him and try to reposition him constantly!

@Goldengirl: I think you'll see a perfectly healthy baby at your ultrasound :)

@brownepiano: I totally pushed back with my LO! Sometimes he just needed to get out of my rib cage.

I don't think you are crazy and I do think baby is fine in there!

Apparently I'm too tiny for my babies because by the end of each pregnancy they were pushing on my ribs and I couldn't breath. When it got really bad I'd push back (pretty hard) to try to get them to move. They both came out fine!

@kiddosc: @Mrs. Microscope: I think what confuses me is hearing that they're so protected in their bubble... but when I feel his little foot pop out and I can feel the shape of it, it literally feels like there's nothing between us! I'm having an ultrasound next week and am scared I'll just see a smushed pancake baby... lol!

Think of it like baby is the middle of a water balloon. It would be really hard to squish something in the middle of a water balloon.

Another vote for it's hard not to, but don't worry! My DS likes to climb into our bed on weekday mornings to cuddle, and he inevitably climbs on/sits on/lays/kicks/smashes my bump every. single. day. Baby is a-okay!

@Goldengirl: Yeah I know what you mean but the baby is protected by the fluid and doctors/ midwives are experts at this and know how to feel for the baby. So I wouldnt worry about them hurting the baby at all

During my anatomy scan the tech had to push really hard to get some measurements because the baby was just not cooperating. She was even jiggling my stomach around trying to get the baby to move! My stomach muscles were actually sore the next day and it worried me a little bit. I asked the doctor about it at my next appointment and he said it was fine. The baby is well protected in there!

Remember, your baby is floating in an awesome hot tub in there! The amniotic fluid really helps to distribute the pressure so your little one is just fine!

So I know I'm being crazy, but now that my doctor is checking for baby position during each appointment, I find they push down soooo hard on my belly and every time it freaks me out, like they're literally squishing my baby's brain. I always ask if it hurts him and they say no and kind of laugh and I know they wouldn't be lying... but I always find myself worrying after! I can tell he feels it because he always moves a ton right after. Did anyone else get their tummies pushed so hard? Or freak out about it like me? :silly:
