Oh lawd, I had that same pelvic pain! It made it almost impossible to walk around, and I'm a teacher and I was carrying twins. I agree, it's AWFUL and really hurts, but I didn't deliver until 38w4d, and that was through an induction. My doctor said the pain, while crappy, is normal. Granted, always ask your doc if you're worried!

I would just say that you should never feel silly about sharing your concerns with your doctor/midwife. It won't hurt, and it will reassure you!

I felt that way during my pregnancy. I never had the feelings in my ribs, or unable to breathe. I felt like he was low the entire time. I had really strong urges to pee and pressure. I gave birth at 39w.

Every pregnancy is different, but the symptoms you mentioned were normal for me. I wouldnt be concerned unless you see something like your mucus plug, your water or start feeling cramps.

As always it doesnt hurt to mention to your doc, even if just for reassurance.

It is SO normal for them to flip to the head-down position at this point, and that makes it feel like they're lower. So IMO? You're probably more than fine!
I actually did go into PTL at 28 weeks (but I have twins, so it was a little more expected). I started feeling period-type cramps and immediately went into the triage unit in L&D. THEY WERE AMAAAAZING. GO THERE if you are ever truly worried. We got hooked up to the monitors, and I ended up getting a shot of terbutaline and went on a daily oral medication called nefedepine to keep the contractions under control. I won't tell you it wasn't scary, (it totally was), but I was able to carry to 36 weeks (again...twins...so that was actually pretty decent) without much issue. So I guess my point is that if you DO end up in PTL, it doesn't necessarily mean you will deliver.
GL! You will do great!

Ahh you guys are so reassuring and wonderful. It is comforting to hear this is pretty normal and she probably just flipped around and down.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Definitely! I don't think I have a particularly long torso but I'm not short (5'6") so I do think there is plenty of room for baby at her current size.

I replied to another thread this morning regarding viablity and it reminds me of this thread - passing viability has almost made me more nervous about preterm labor because I think about what that would actually mean (long NICU stay, developmental delays, etc...). So I wanted to also add that I can relate to how you feel emotionally about this topic. It sounds from some of the other ladies like it's pretty normal.

I think it is normal to have these fears. Maybe she just has already flipped heads down. I am 38 weeks, and I never felt the pressure in my rib cage, and feeling like I can't breathe good.

I have definitely heard of women in my prenatal yoga class who are similarly far along as you mention this and the instructor has always said that this is normal (but uncomfortable).

I just wanted to add that I completely understand and share your fears of pre-term labor, although mine are probably a bit more founded since I am carrying twins. But yeah, it is intense to constantly be worrying about it, so just wanted to commiserate and offer you some good luck for a full-term baby!

Oh, I wanted to add that at that time, I said she dropped...but this past week, at 37 weeks, my baby has DROPPED...didn't think she had any lower to go, but she did. Just getting into position puts more pressure on your lower abdomen.

She probably just turned head down. Happened with this one around that time, and suddenly I could breathe and eat again. It felt nice. :)

@T.H.O.U.: Thank you! That is reassuring. I think I also have a long torso (well I know I at least have terribly short legs), so that may be the case for me as well.

@Revel: We'll have to keep each other in the loop! I have an appointment with my midwife next week too. Do you have a long torso possibly? maybe we're in the same boat.

Following this post - I am 27 weeks and could have written this myself. About a week ago baby really started to feel low, and I've felt a lot of stretching and aches and pains that were not there before. Similarly I've never had that "can't breathe" feeling, although I do get full a lot faster these days. I plan on asking my doctor at my appointment next week.

Two things - I did call the nurse line at my office last week and described how I was feeling and she was completely unconcerned, said that it's just baby getting bigger and RLP. I also spoke with a friend who recently had her baby and she said the 6th and 7th month were when the stretching and discomfort increased for her - she carried to a few days past her due date. She said some of it actually subsided in months 8 and 9.

I remember a lot of the same feelings. I would say its probably normal but worth bringing up to your Dr. I have a long torso and I never go kicked in the ribs she was always lower.

Most people I've shared these concerns with have tried to ease my mind with the "you're probably just being emotional because of the hormones" looks and feedback, so I thought I would take it to a more open forum and if you all tell me to calm down, I promise I will :).

I'm 28W3D and I keep having potentially irrational thoughts and worries about pre-term labor. I've had a low risk pregnancy and nothing has seemed out of the ordinary up until now. Here's what is going on and maybe it's completely normal(??).

I feel like baby girl has dropped. I thought this happened close to labor, and I think that's why I've gotten worried. I've carried low pretty much this entire pregnancy, but lately I have had an intense pressure in my pelvic/pubic area basically every time I stand. Since about 15 weeks (at this time I hadn't gained any weight) I've had pubic pain pretty badly. I go to a chiropractor and ice it pretty frequently. But, now it's just different. Basically every time I get up, I have this pressure down there and I have to pee RIGHT NOW. It feels heavy and just like if I don't get to the restroom.. well you get the point. Is this pretty normal for the third trimester? For some reason, I thought I was supposed to go through a period where she was all up in my rib cage, it gets hard to breathe, etc.. I had heartburn for 3 days a few weeks ago and then it disappeared. Am I just all wacky about the timing and is that stuff still coming?

I know no one will be able to answer for certain, but if you have any thoughts/experience, I'd love to hear! I'm sure I have no reason to worry (because what's odd is I'm not a worrier by nature), but for some reason it just feels off.

By the way, Happy Friday!! :)
