Thank you all for responding!! I don't have time at the moment to respond to everyone but please know that I appreciate everyone so much. I feel much better after reading all of your responses.

My OB scared me. Your success stories definitely put me at ease - at least for now

I had long/unpredictable cycles from October when I got off the pill until I conceived in June. We just DTD every other day starting from 10 or so days after my period ended on the cycle we conceived DD- so I have no idea when I ovulated but we did get pregnant in spite of the issue without intervention. I just took a random test on the 4th of July before drinking that day just in case- and it was a digital 2-3 weeks. So I would not assume it's not possible. I'm glad you are seeing a specialist, in the meantime I'd recommend still trying.

I got pregnant with LO on CD 35 (so 50 day cycle). Several moms in my birth group also had 40+ day cycles. I never got blood work done because my doctor needed us to TTC for a year and it turns out I was ovulating, just very late

I have long cycles (40-45 days) and had an appointment set up for tests when I got pregnant with my oldest (found out I was pregnant literally 2 days before the appointment). I had been TTC for over a year with one m/c and it was getting super frustrating knowing I had less chances than most people. I've always had long cycles, starting from when I first got my period at 13- I was put on birth control to "regulate" them and ended up staying on the pill for 9 years. When I got off, they went right back to 40-45 days.

Anyway, I never found out why I have long cycles, but I know I ovulated because I now have 3 kids. When my first and second babies were 10-11 months old, my cycles returned and within two months, I was pregnant again.

For me, it seems to not affect fertility too much since I know I ovulate. Baby #1 took awhile, but #2 and #3 were first month successes (and I'm still shocked at how fast they happened). Good luck and I hope you get some answers! I know it can be extremely stressful.

I had long cycles after coming off BC (55-65 days) and also had normal blood work and an ultrasound didn't show any cysts on my ovaries or anything else to be concerned about. I was temping and it showed I was not ovulating. I got pregnant my second cycle on Clomid and first month of acupuncture. I now have a 7 month old. Good luck! I know how stressful it is not having answers

I have longish semi-irregular cycles, usually 35-43 days. My bloodwork has always been normal, including when I saw an RE this fall after TTC #2 for 6 months. The only thing she saw that was suggestive of PCOS was a high end of normal antral follicle count, said I might be "on the spectrum" for PCOS but she couldn't be sure. I ended up getting pregnant before we started any intervention, after 8 months trying at 36.

I had an earlier dr tell me that with long cycles where you are ovulating the main thing is that you have fewer chances to get pregnant in a given year, which seemed to be our experience.

Before ttc #1 I sometimes skipped periods/had 60ish day cycles. I never figured out why but I did have two babies so don't get too discouraged at this point. 💕 And after giving birth to #1 I didn't have those super long/skipped cycles anymore although I still have irregular cycles. (Oh and yes I had a normal ultrasound and blood test- they were done while ttc#2 because it was taking much longer than #1 so my OB decided to just check.)

I have always had irregular cycles. My cycles are now anywhere from 29 - 35 days, though they were longer when I was a teenager.

I've never gotten fertility bloodwork done, but I mentioned my irregular cycles last year to my OB when we were ttc and she wasn't concerned. I always get my period 2 weeks after a positive ovulation test, so she said it was fine for my cycles to be irregular since my ovulation day seems to change every month. I got pregnant the month after I met with her.

My sister has experienced much longer cycles since giving birth over a year ago (close to 40 days) and she went to her OB last week who refused to do any sort of testing and told her that long cycles are healthy...

I have very irregular cycles. My "normal" is between 31 and 35 days although it really can be anywhere from 28 to 38 days. The only time I had blood work done was when I had a few cycles in a row that were 40+ days and my PCP ordered a thyroid test. That came back negative and my cycles eventually went back to my version of normal again. Since then I've been pregnant 3 times and now on a Mirena, so it's hard to say what normal is at this point. Not sure if this is helpful to you at all.

@LittleBook: Well, that's good at least! Ugh, it sucks how complicated female reproductive anatomy is. I think it's totally up to you how to proceed. For me, I was temping and using OPKs and knew I was not ovulating. Because I was TTC, I kept pushing for more tests and a diagnosis. But many many people do conceive with irregular or long cycles. But I knew I had like a 0 percent chance.

Solidarity! But I wouldn't worry too much right now, it's pretty common I think even for people with completely normal fertility.

@mrsjd: I had my ultrasound yesterday, and she said everything seemed good. I was concerned because she kind of shrugged her shoulders and said "its not anything I can diagnose, I recommend you seeing a specialist."

I can't figure out what it can be, if everything is "normal".

I had long, irregular cycles and normal bloodwork. I ended up having atypical PCOS. I have cysts on my ovaries but no hormonal imbalance or insulin resistance. It might be worth seeing if they'll do an ultrasound to look. It took me a long time to be diagnosed properly.

My blood work came back normal but I also had cycles that were already long and getting longer each month.
I saw a RE who believed it was due to a hormone imbalance, and since I have suffered multiple losses, I was prescribed Femara to help regulate my cycles.

As difficult as it is, try not to worry too much. There are lots of reasons and solutions for long cycles!

I have long cycles and seem to be getting longer (last one was 47 days  ). After getting a normal blood test and ultrasound, my OB suggested I go to a fertility specialist to figure out why. I asked if the irregular and long cycles might have something to do with getting off of BC (about a year ago) and she said no.

Does anyone else experience long cycles but had a normal blood test? I'm trying not to worry to much while waiting for my appointment at the end of May.
