After a year or ttc I started taking vitex bc I realized I was spotting starting 3 days before AF each month. Thst combined with hormonal acne (when you get pimples on lower third of your face) led me to suspect low progesterone so I took vitex. It helps regulate your pituitary gland and thus regulate your hormones. I took it the whole month for a couple months and got a bfp. No idea if it's related to my bfp but it certainly did help clear up my skin. I say it can't hurt!

I took vitex to help lengthen my lp, I only took it one cycle- I did get pregnant but it totally messed my cycle up. I have no clue when I ovulated, my chart was a disaster. So... Mixed review from me!

I would possibly try it... I am 10 weeks along right now. Tried since late July 2014, conceived in December 2014. I took FertilAid and FertilCM by Fairhaven Health beginning in October. I believe the FertilAid contains Vitex.

After we started trying in July, I think I was so stressed out from starting to try I didn't O that month (pretty sure). And my period never started. I was usually anywhere from 28-32 days, so by day 45ish, I started to get really concerned. I think the stress is what threw me off, as I was sure it was going to happen on the first try, and even though I have always wanted a family, I have always been terrified of being pregnant. Anyways, I confirmed I was not pregnant, then took a ton of vitamin C, and I think it helped induce my cycle (late August), but then for the next two months, I just still felt like my cycle was off.

After I began the supplements, I could slowly feel my cycle slowly getting back on track to where it was getting closer to the 28 days, and signs related to ovulation seemed more regular and predictable.

That was my experience. Good luck and hope you get some more advice!

ETA: I acknowledge my experience may be a coincidence, but something helped me get back on track! And I don't want to advocate doing radical experiments or anything, I think my supplements only had a small amount of Vitex, so I can't say for sure that it was that that helped me or that it was enough to have any effect at all. Just wanted to share in case it is at all helpful, as I do think the supplements worked for me.

Also forgot to answer your question - I took the whole cycle.

My understanding here is that you're having delayed ovulation? I think vitex just helps lengthen your LP.

I would wait.

My third cycle after MC was totally messed up (I spotted 90% of the month). I asked my doctor about it, and he suggested waiting a couple months. Sure enough, things were back to normal by then

So I'm trying to figure out if Vitex could help me out with shortening my cycles and moving up my ovulation date. Here's my relevant info:

- Off birth control since last April
- Charting since May
- Used charting to avoid pregnancy May through July, started trying to conceive in August

- April through May: normal, 30 day cycles
- August: delayed ovulation, 39 days
- September: normal cycle, conceived, lost in October
- November/December: NTNP, delayed O due to loss, 46 day cycle
- December/January: delayed ovulation, 44 days cycle

ETA:
- I have bad acne related to my cycle.
- I had "several small follicular cysts" on my ovaries during my ultrasound during my miscarriage.
- Spotting is not an issue
- I have a 12 day LP (I think) and I have VERY light periods that only last 3 days.

I'm just getting frustrated because in the last six to seven months, I've only had four cycles, three of which were irregular with very late ovulation, on like day 25 through 31. I realize that some of this is just my body healing after miscarriage but I think it might need some help to get back on track, and what I read about vitex makes me very interested. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there on the boards about personal experiences with it.

Three questions:
1) Based on what I described above, do you think I should try vitex?
2) If you took vitex, what was your personal experience like?
3) Did you take it after ovulation, or throughout your entire cycle? I've read some things about it delaying O??
