I think that'd a perfect age! LO got one for her birthday. But only recently has been really playing with it. She just turned 17 months. :)
I really liked the Kidkraft one and would've put that one on her wishlist had I known the ILs were going to buy her a kitchen.

My son played with kitchens consistently beginning at around 18 months. We still have it, but it is now a storage area for his trains. Imagine my surprise when I opened the oven and found all his trains and cars in there!

That's a great age to get it! She'll grow into it quickly, and you'll be glad you got it for her.

My daughter got one around that age. I'm not sure she did the 'right' kind of things with it at first, but she certainly enjoyed it.

We got LO a kidcraft kitchen for Christmas last year when she was 14 months. She was interested in it right away. By 16 months she was playing with it every single day. It is the single most used toy in our house.

LO received the kidkraft play kitchen for his first birthday and instantly loved it. He started understanding the concept of cooking and pretending early on.

E was 6 months when we first bought ours (DS was 3). But she really showed interested in it at 9 months and plays with it every day right now (16 months).

My LO got one for Christmas last year when he was 10 months. By the time he was 16 months he definitely had way more fun playing with it. We have the Ikea kitchen.

@jmarionsmith: my parents are ordering hers and it will be the Step 2, it had to be below $100 and this one I liked best for $92. I know a lot of people prefer the wood ones but I think this one looks fun!

We are trying to get a head start on buying LO's Christmas gifts so we won't be overwhelmed come December. I thought a play kitchen would be a good "big" gift but I don't know if he will be too young to enjoy it. Should we wait for his 2nd birthday?
