I liked the idea of having a bassinet/cradle but I am such a crap sleeper that I could never relax with her in the room with me! We both slept better when we were apart. I think a bassinet would be handy to have in other rooms though like your family room to put baby down quickly when they fall asleep in the early days. We barely used our Moses basket.</p> <p>If I have a second baby, I will probably look into an arm's reach cosleeper. But only if I have fewer breastfeeding issues than the first time. She stayed in it 5-6 months actually. She slept in a snugglie with this wedge thing under her to keep her in place and not roll over. I had an infection, though, and was in a lot of pain. We used it a couple of months. We installed the ikea gulliver crib as a sidecar to our bed, and next time I will do that from the beginning. I can't imagine putting him down in the crib yet. It's nice to be able to respond to him throughout the night with feedings before he starts screaming. I wanted the baby right next to the bed for the first little while and the bassinet made that much easier. It also let me hear him stirring and get to him before he was fully crying. I always felt like the crib was too big for him when he was a teeny newborn. We used the Uppababy bassinet for four months with our first, and our second is currently 11 weeks and has lots of room in the Halo Bassinest (which I like but am not sure it's worth the money. Well....our baby had reflux and refused to sleep on his back so my husband went out the second day home from the hospital to get a bassinet so we could keep a closer eye on him! We used it for 3.5 months which is when we transitioned him to his crib.
