interesting. I never though a no crib was an option. I guess you learn stuff everyday, @Mrs. Jacks: @chopsuey119: Do you have pictures of your set-up? I'm intrigued

@mrsjacks & @chopsuey119-- do you use a crib mattress or a twin size?

We never used a crib with Lala. We transitioned from our bed to floor bed directly and probably should have done it way sooner!

@miranlee: We never got a crib. Like @Coco Bee: said, I have a mattress on the floor and we have a big gate surrounding it so LO can't get out :D

I had actually considered doing a floor bed, it is actually part of the montessori method. I know @MrsBee tried it with Charlie.

@Chopsuey119 and @banana both does this too and they use a baby gate around the sides of the bed so their LO doesn't get out

Also if your baby is young enough you could try this sleeper by fisher price, its worked great for us when LO didnt want to sleep in her crib in the beginning

For me a crib just gives me more peace of mind, I know she cant get out of it by herself ( she is 3 months old) I'm not sure how old your baby is but without a crib they can crawl all around. My 3 month old is able to move all around the crib I put her on one side at night and in the morning she is way on the other end and has flipped over. So I would be worried to let her sleep on a mattress with no slats to "fence" her in

Once Zoey grew out of her co-sleeper, we put her on a twin mattress on the floor surrounded by pillows. This was easier, since she would wake up anytime we tried to put her down in the pack and play. (we have been staying with in-laws and decided to wait to move ....any day now....before buying a crib)

With a floor mattress, I can side lie-nurse with her and get into a sitting position and slowly lower her down onto the mattress without straining my back or jostling her too much--it's been great!

Do I need to get a real crib? She's definitely moving around alot more these days, but thought that a bunch of cushioning around the mattress will suffice....no?
Is there an alternative.....like one that sits on the floor?
