It was just 2 hours, and they went over CPR as well as what to do if the baby - or, toddler really - starts choking.... Totally worth it in my mind! In the rare case that there's an emergency, those few minutes before emergency services arrive can make a life or death difference.</p> <p>Sure you can "learn" it from youtube or a book, but there is noone there to check your technique and make sure that you're doing everything correctly.</p> <p>SO and I, as well as future LO's grandma are all signed up for a class next month. We both are already CPR certified but we're both a little iffy still when it comes to babies. I'm sure we would do the right thing but I want it to be second nature for us so we can remain calm and controlled. I especially want a refresher as a just-in-case because we are planning on doing baby-led weaning when the time comes. I know gagging is common and choking is a rarity but I feel better knowing what to do just in case. I was a lifeguard for years so I kind of knew it already, but I was happy DH was there to learn. She also covered the following: choking and which foods are more hazardous, burns, car seat installment, and just general words of wisdom from another mom. One week later LO was choking like crazy on a vitamin d drop (i know, i am a horrible mom) and i felt more calm dealing with the situation. Seriously, best $50 ever...and it was for 2 parents.
