@LovelyPlum: Don't beat yourself up, that sounds like a good transitional plan to me! And I just had a donut, so I'm not one to talk about sticking to your plan, whoops :silly: :bummed:

@mrsjazz: haha I've been having dreams about food too. Many of mine include me making a side dish for my family that I can't have and mindlessly taking a quick bite and the realizing Ive ruined it all! lol i gets easier and easier not to throw that handful.of goldfish in your mouth as you get some for LO!

@LovelyPlum: I'm feeling pretty good. Even if my LO(s) dont sleep well, I may feel sleepy but my body feels energetic instead of draggy. I'm also a much more mindful eater than I was previously which has cut down on random handfuls of food here and there throughout the day. AND today, at 3.5 months pp with my second, I was finally able to button my pre-pregnancy shorts with no muffin top! lol

There are totally ways to dress the same foods up. Like mix baked sweet potatoes with egg and fry the "batter" up like a pancake. I know that's close to breaking the rules but if you don't top it with anything it's really not like a pancake at all in flavor so I figured it was okay. Sweet potato hash or fries are good too. Acorn squash is a nice change of pace. Stupid Easy Paleo had a yummy recipe for avocado fries that are compliant. And today for lunch I quickly mashed an avocado, quatered 4 cherry tomatoes and added some purple onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder and lemon juice to make a quick guac that I ate with carrots and bell pepper. So yum!

I think easing into it is the way to go. I'm not a cold turkey kind of gal. I would have never been able to stick with it had I done it that way. Good luck!

Day 11. It's going well. My pants are fitting a little loser so that's great! I had my period and there was no bloating and less cramps so I was happy about that.

I had a dream about toast last night!

I mainly do the cooking and my family has eating the same as me but I still make rice and pasta for them. Hard not to take a bite but I don't!

@mrsjazz: nice! How is it going?

@Mrs. Sunshine: Congratulations, that's awesome! How do you feel? Thanks for the tips! And yes, I would love some meal ideas! I love sweet potato and avocado, but I feel like that will get old after a while of eating it nonstop...

@NorCalWayfarer: right, so, it's not going as well as we might have hoped. I'm actually going to be starting over in September...sigh. I thought I was prepared with food, etc, but with only one of us in the house doing Whole30, it was kinda complicated. I was going to wholesale get rid of a lot of it, but that seemed like a huge waste. So the compromise that DH and I came up with is that we will both start together in September. Until then, we're using up what is in the house and replacing it with only Whole30 compliant foods. It is easing us into it, which I hope sets us up for success this time around! And I agree about feeling better at 12 month PP. That is when I finally started to feel normal again. I admit, it is nice after so much hormonal imbalance!

I'll be finishing my Whole30 on Friday! My biggest tip is don't be afraid of fats and carbs. I need them to stay full. I'm also still nursing so I need a lot but plantains, sweet potatoes, white potatoes and bananas are your friend! Especially if youre working out. I average at least one avocado a day plus regular cooking fats.

Hope the Whole 30 is going well for you! I just made a fish taco salad (basically grilled fish tacos minus the tortilla) and thought of you! I'm trying to eat a little healthier -- like you said I've done the weigh-loss thing and it didn't last too long, so I'm just hoping to eat healthier generally and get some exercise in more regularly. It's hard with a LO but at 12 months PP I'm finally starting to feel like myself again!

@LovelyPlum: not doing Whole30 but doing the 21-day sugar detox which is pretty similar, the level I'm doing means no fruit (except for green apples) and no potatoes so I think that's the only difference. Day 3 for me.

@NorCalWayfarer: Thank you! Today is Day 1, and so far, so good. I alternate between thinking that I can totally do this and being scared that I am going to give it my all and still fail :bummed: I'm trying not to think too hard, but I also don't want to be mindless about it, either. I know that if I do that, I will get to the end and feel like I accidentally succeeded. That's what happened when I did WW. I lost 40 lbs and still didn't feel empowered, because I didn't stay at my goal range for very long. Granted, it is because I got pregnant, but still. I'm not doing it to lose weight, per se, but I need to radically redesign my relationship with food. I had looked at Whole30 before, and it never felt right. Now, it does. I'm hoping that is a good sign!

@mrsdoily: @sweet_p: @Corduroy: Thank you!! I'm nervous, but feeling strangely confident. I usually suck at diets, but LO was MSPI, so I eliminated all dairy and soy for 10ish months. Going back to eating all the things was actually what got me in this predicament in the first place. I'm hoping that the old MSPI habits come back easily, though the added sugar is a problem. I think I'm counting today as Day 0, both because of this morning and because I didn't realize there was added sugar in my trail mix this evening. It helped me to feel less shaky, but now I know why. Live and learn.

So, fats, huh? Besides avocado and dried nuts, what are your favorites?

Good luck! I'm working on summoning my willpower and cleaning out my pantry post partum. I'll be joining you soon. I'm looking forward to getting back to 80/20 paleo.

Eat lots of fat, that is the biggest hurdle for most people in the beginning.

I know whole 30 says not to snack if you can help it, but be prepared thay you may have to the first few weeks to help you get over the sugar crashes. Just keep it whole 30 compliant and you are good to go. Once you get past the first 12 days, you will be fine! I lost 14 pounds and 11.5 inches on my first whole 30, and we still eat primarily that way! You've got this!!

As of this afternoon, I am...and I'm nervous!!

We are just back from vacation, and my whole family has resolved to eat healthier. I thought I was doing OK with just sticking to healthy, veggie-filled meals like the stir-fry I made last night, but I realize today that this sugar addiction has Got. To. Go. I've been having a real issue with doughnuts this summer, and even this morning, I could not pull myself away. I hate it, and I need it to stop.

After some research, it turns out that the meal I made last night (stir-fried zucchini, kale, onion, and sausage) was actually from a paleo website, and the sausage is Whole30-compliant. So I'm set with my lunch for today. Breakfast was a disaster, but that is in the past. I'm starting now, and I'm not looking back.

Anyone else? Tips and good stories appreciated!!
