Girls who didn't have serious boyfriends or engagements by junior or senior year were distraught. There were always jokes about "ring by spring" and getting our "MRS. degree." I'm only 26 and nearly all of my friends are married, many with two kids already! We're not even fundamentalists and there's pressure... imagine being a Duggar! In the Duggar world of the quiverfull lifestyle that pressure to marry and procreate young is WAY more prevalent &amp; intense. I thought Jana seemed sad too. She's the oldest girl, and watching her sisters find men and get married. In their culture, there's a lot of pressure to find a mate and procreate. I don't think she (or the other, older kids - mostly the girls) really got to enjoy their teenage years. But that is totally just my opinion. It bothers me how much they *seem* to have a "live and let live" mentality, but their extremely strict beliefs do not allow room for that. I also hate how they frame the decision to only hold hands and wait until marriage for their first kiss up to the couple. They really don't have a choice in the matter. I couldn't imagine how Jim Bob and Michelle would react if the couple chose to kiss before marriage. </p> <p>I'm liking Jessa less and less. Ben acts like a dud. I think Derick will be a good influence on Jill. Jana is my favorite, but she always looks so sad. However, when I learned that the eldest moved to DC to be a lobbyist for the Family Research Council, I stopped watching. The Southern Poverty Law Center classified the FRC as an anti-gay hate group.
