Yeah, I gave up a nice salary and really good benefits. If I made less, it would have been a no brainer for me to stay home.

@cyndistar3: Well, we got a cleaning lady to solve one of those problems. I thought it was so silly when my grandma wanted to gift her to us b/c I'm home every day. Now I don't know what I'd do without her!

@RosieGirl: Seriously, who thought a teeny tiny baby could wear you out so easily?

@Boogs: I'm finally getting to a point where laundry doesn't get piled up as often. I only have to do about 2 loads a day!

I thought I would be able to get so much more done! I thought that we'd have lots of play time, I would be able to do lots of cooking, the house would always be spotless, and laundry would never get piled up. I sure was mistaken!

I thought I would have more energy! And I thought I would get more stuff done around the house. Or have everything organized everyday. Maybe if i had more energy I would!

I waver a lot about this. I don't know if I want to work or if I want to stay home. It's about what I expected (I worked at home before and I figured I'd be about as busy... yep, if not more so!).

I had no idea how busy I would actually be. I thought I would be able to cook 3 meals everyday and keep the house all nice and clean but it just doesn't work out that way all the time...

@Maysprout: I think it's fine to get distracted by your baby... she'll only be a baby once! We should enjoy them as much as we can! I totally agree with you about feeling fulfilled being a SAHM. I was just talking to my hubby about this last night because I've heard so many SAHM's feel embarrassed by what they do. Why would I be embarrassed? I feel lucky that I can take care of my baby girl all day!

@Looch: It's interesting to hear someone's prespective who prefers to work. Honestly, I don't! I quit my job due to health reasons before I was even pregnant. But my job didn't give me very much money anyway, it probably wouldn't have even paid for day care!

I do a little of both right now, which seems ideal, but it's funny -- when I'm home I'm thinking of being at work, and when I'm at work I miss my LO at home. You can't really win, I think :) That said, I do need some time where I'm not baby-focused. I'm a better mom when I have a little bit of a break!

I never, ever thought I would be a SAHM. I liked working, I liked being around people, problem solving. I particularly liked the money...sometimes, I'd get frustrated at an issue and rant and rave about the morons that surrounded me, but I'd get over it when we had a breakthrough and solved a problem.

I planned to go back 4 days a week, but had serious problems finding a day care that wasn't totally out of our way. So, 3 months into my maternity leave, I gave my notice that I wouldn't be returning. It's now been just over a year that I haven't been working and there are good days and bad days. I never thought it would be cupcakes and rainbows to stay at home, sometimes I am bored and crazy antsy. Other days I am fine to not leave the house.

I thought I'd get more done in a day and not be quite as obsessive about baby. But I love looking at her and playing with her I end up getting distracted. I'm learning to be more organized at home but it's definitely a different skill.

I also enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would and feel very fulfilled. You always hear how it's not fulfilling to stay at home so I was expecting to feel antsy and I don't at all. I'm going to start working part time and a few people have said 'oh that's great for you to get back to having an identity outside of the home' or something along those lines. I just have a hard time understanding what they mean. I'd love to have a job that saved the world but right now that's not what my job is doing so it's more about making money than feeling fulfilled. I feel fulfilled when I see my happy family.

I always knew I wanted to be a SAHM. But I pictured something completely different. I was so naive! I guess I thought my days would be filled with cuddles and giggles. I just didn't realize how hard it is to take care of a baby, and how much they take out of you.

In the beginning, I seriously considered (but never mentioned to my hubby) finding some childcare and looking for a job again. But I'm so glad I stuck with it, because I do love spending all my time with my LO and being able to watch her grow up. While my hubby was at work, I was the first one to witness her find her feet for the first time! I would have hated to miss that.

Did you picture something different when you decided to be a SAHM before having your baby?
