At 1 year my ped said they should be having around 17 oz of milk a day. If I assume LO has around 5 oz each time when I breastfeed morning and night, that still leaves 7 oz, which he gets by drinking whole milk twice a day.

thanks for all the replies. LO does have yogourt 1 - 2 x per day as well. so hopefully it will be ok. I will speak to his ped to make sure. I do remember at his 1 year appt i told him i was planning to keep breastfeeding but would be going back to work. I didn't even mention that i would pump for a while at lunch and the ped it was fine to nurse morning and night. I didn't clarify though about what other sources he should be having during the day, so i will do that.

My LO is 15 months. She will NOT drink any type of milk. She only nurses once every other day. As long as you make sure there is calcium from other sources your LO should be ok...just talk to your ped.

Eta: some kids just don't like milk and they survive without it :)

At 12 months I was nursing 4x a day (2 veryvshort sessions tho) and Lo refused all other milk. My pedi was not concerned as long as he had cheese and yogurt. I think it's probably fine but toucan always try cows milk/other milk an see if he likes it.

Eta I see e is 14 months old. So is my Lo and he nurses 2-3c a day with a few sips of cows milk here and there. The doc says that's totally fine.

I nurse 3 times per day but offer LO hemp milk in a cup at meals. He drink 5-8 oz per day. I don't push it on him and he either drinks it or doesn't.

If your LO is getting calcium from other sources (cheese, yogurt), I wouldn't worry about drinking whole milk. Just make sure your LO is getting hydrated by drinking water or other liquids.

I think you might need to add another milk source. My LO gets like 4oz during the day but then nurses super frequently when I get home so I haven't really introduced other milk. I'm trying to get her started on other milk so I can ease off the pump. She's going to be 15 months next week.

I would not be comfortable with my LO only having breastmilk 2-3 times a day and no other milk. I nurse my 13 months old three times a day and t hen she has 2-3 servings (5 ounces) of whole milk each day as well.

I want to stop pumping at lunch time at work and just nurse my LO morning and night, and sometimes at supper time if I am home early enough. But I haven't introduced whole milk yet. Do i need to introduce another type of milk if i am still breastfeeding 2 - 3 times per day?

My LO is almost 14 months.
