When I was a baby I slept like that! It's probably for the best that back then there was no internet to let my mom obsessively google it and worry. I hit my milestones and turned out fine, I just still need more sleep than average (10-12 hours). I would definitely just enjoy it. :)

I think we mamas (definitely including myself) often drive ourselves crazy by thinking that babies "should" sleep a certain amount of time, have a certain number of naps and night wakeups, etc. Just like adults, babies have different sleep needs and patterns, and I think it's often best to follow their lead. Your baby seems healthy and happy, so I would say all is good :)

I think it's just the fact that some people require more sleep than others. I'd go with it!

Yep, you're definitely lucky. I've got a bad sleeper, even as a newborn DS didn't sleep anywhere near as much as what the books say newborns should. And now at 21 months he sleeps 9 hours at night and 1-2 hours during the day. I so wish I had a good sleeper! Just mentioning this to illustrate that all kids are different, but the good sleepers and the bad sleepers usually develop just fine in the end.

At that age, C was sleeping 6:30p-8:30a and taking 2 2 hour naps.

We're lucky. Lol. Some kids just sleep more than others. She didn't hit any physical milestones early, but she has hit them all win the normal range. I wouldn't worry about that.

Our schedule at that age was similar. Until the 9 month sleep regression hit ;) Then it was up earlier and only one nap in bed at best. We usually got him to sleep again for the second nap in the stroller.

This sounds perfect to me! Dr Weissbluth says that you should get them to take the morning nap as soon as possible after their breakfast because then it acts as a continuation of night sleep (which is super beneficial sleep). So - she's sleeping all night, having three naps (2hrs, 1 hr, 1h1) - that's ideal!

At 9 months, my LO isn't doing any of that stuff either (and doing all the stuff you mentioned your DD can do!). She also can't use a sippy cup and only babbles using one consonant sound (B). I have been driving myself crazy thinking that it's because I let her go in the Jumperoo too often but in reality babies just develop at different rates. Your LO is doing just fine.

ps - enjoy it!! REALLY enjoy it! Babies can change like the wind and in two weeks time you will probably be posting a "my baby wont sleep" thread while I'm worrying that my crap-napper sleeps all day!!

DD is nearly 8 months old and has always slept pretty damn well. Her naps used to be crappy but I will take a long night of sleep over a nap any day! At 8 months though, she is sleeping a total of 16-17 hours a day.

She goes to bed at 7 pm (8 if we are behind schedule),
Wakes around midnight to eat every now and then (or I do a dream feed because I am too lazy to pump)
Sleeps until 6-7 and wakes to eat again, I lay her back down
Sleeps until 9-10 am (See? Lucky!)
Takes two 1 hour naps at 12ish and 3ish.

So, in total she sleeps about 14-15 hours a night with two 1-hour naps.

I expected this of a younger baby but not at 8 months. She isn't crawling or even scooting yet. She can get on her knees but only does it in her bed. She can spin around on her tummy and rolls just fine. She can sit unassisted just fine but cant pull herself into the position but has also started working on pulling to standing. She can stand while holding into something completely unassisted. She has even managed to use only one hand to balance while playing with things with the other. It seems like her physical development is all over the place and I wonder if this is all just normal or is she is getting too much sleep and not enough developmental awake time.

Am I crazy and just need to shut up because of how lucky I am or should I be concerned?
