@Mrs. Cowgirl: no problem! :) thanks. Hope lil CB feels better too!

No more diarrhea so far, but one of them has a low fever. Hopefully it'll be gone by the next feeding.

@Mrs. Jacks: thanks! But, I just checked CB's records and I don't think he had the rotavirus vaccine...he was in Korea when he should have gotten the vaccine, and there's no record on his immunization chart. Oh well!

@Mrs. Cowgirl: it is possible but less likely. Could also be a norovirus or an adenovirus, but surely viral with 40 kids out!

Feel better little CB!

@Mrs. Jacks: is it possible to get rotavirus even after the vaccine? CB had a NASTY bug all weekend and is just starting to feel better. he was vomiting, had some diarrhea, and a fever. the doc said to wait it out because he didn't seem dehydrated and it turns out nearly 40 kids were absent at school today because of (what seems like) the same bug.

@sunshineandsushi: rotavirus is everywhere right now, so it's hard to know where they got it. I wouldnt bring hem back Thursday unless the diarrhea is completely resolved.

@Mrs. Jacks, @jennylynn: So it's not likely that they caught this specifically from daycare just 8 hours ago?

They're not showing any other symptoms besides the diarrhea, I hope it stays that way.

This makes me feel even worse about going back to work on Thursday!

I don't think they could have caught it that quickly from being exposed just today. But more like your babies and the baby at daycare came into contact with the "bug" around the same time and are just now showing the symptoms around the same time. Does that make sense?

I hope they get to feeling better!

Diarrhea is contagious. It is usually caused by viruses or bacteria that are transmitted by the fecal oral route. Rotavirus is going around right now.

Depending on the type of illness, incubation can be as short at 12 hrs or as long as several days.

I'm guessing that whatever causes the diarrhea is what is contagious. Not the symptom itself. Hope you all feel better soon.

I took the boys into daycare today for the first day to spend a couple hours there and get the babies and me acquainted with the teachers and the environment. Fast forward a couple hours and now both babies have diarrhea, pooping 3-4 times in a matter of an hour after their feeding. I saw what looks like some specks of blood in one of their diapers during one of the pooping episodes. I recall one of the teachers mentioning to another teacher in the infant room that one of the babies had diarrhea today.

Could they have caught it, or whatever virus/bacteria that could cause diarrhea, so quickly from being there, or is this just a coincidence???

Today was already a rough day just taking them there and I didn't even have to leave them yet. I feel sick to my stomach that they possibly already caught something ... :(
