I have done this since day 1 and it hasn't created any bad habit. Now at 6 months, my daughter can't sleep in bed with is it's too distracting! I miss my early morning cuddles (and extra sleep since now I have to get out of bed for our 4 am nursing session!) then put her back in the crib.

Every baby is different. Do what you need to do to survive! Bad habits can always be broken! ;)

I say sleep! I had an early riser and would have done anything for extra sleep. Maybe when he is older like 5-6 months try to encourage him to sleep in on his own but until then enjoy the zzzzs

@BabyTsMom: DS is 13 months, but doesn't go to bed till 8:30/9pm, which is probably why he wakes up later. He refuses to go to bed any earlier.

@Emsmems: I was afraid of this! I'm definitely gonna try to enjoy it!
@Mrs. Champagne: lucky! I've tried this but doesn't work....haha.
@Alivoo01: I thought my LO would be like yours, a late riser, but he had me fooled! How old is your LO, and what time does he go to bed?

@Emsmems: Exactly what you wrote! Now my LO wants to pull at our faces or try crawl off the bed when we try to bring him into bed with us. I miss when he would sleep with us that hour or so in the mornings...

I did this for a while! No one will fault you for it. But just to warn you, it stopped working for me! Around 6 months he just thought it was fun to play with mommy! No more co napping for us :( Now I just have to get up when he does, which is also 5:45-7 for us, although it's been better lately at 6:30-7. I think LOs have an internal clock that can be overriden sometimes but eventually shines through. Enjoy it while you can!!

I vote for sleep. This is in the morning when the sun is about to rise and shine any way so eh.

DS doesn't wake till 8:30/9am and naps okay during the day when he's tired.

i think it's really common for babies at that age to wake up a bit early because they have a harder time transitioning to the next sleep cycle in the early hours of the morning--you are just helping him! i tried grinning and bearing it but couldn't take it, so i started nursing him back to sleep for that wakeup, even though he had previously stopped MOTN feedings. (co-sleeping is not an option for us because he thinks of it as playtime)

I do this too :) yesterday though instead of bringing him into bed I tried putting him back in his crib. He went to sleep fine in there. So I don't think it's made too bad of a habit yet ;)

Haha, I voted to just get up, but I consider my day half lost if I get up after 7 (even 7 makes the morning seem so short!)

I don't think you're in danger of setting bad habits though - sleep is what you make of it! As long as you're okay with this becoming the norm, no prob :)

I do this with my 8 month old daughter. She ends up in bed with us almost every morning for the last hour or two. If everyone is ok with it and you are getting extra sleep, why not?

We did this for a while too until it just got to be too much (and then we sleep trained). But I agree, do whatever works. You're not forming bad habits yet and sleep is IMPORTANT! :D

I say do whatever works for you! We used to bring Xander into bed with us when he woke up early and he'd sleep a little longer and it was AMAZING. But eventually it stopped working and he just associated being in bed with us as play time, so we had to just start getting up early.

So a couple of weeks ago I posted about my LO (now 14 weeks) waking up late. Ha! Now he's waking up early!! No one told me babies change....
Anyway, I've fallen into this habit of bringing him to my bed when he wakes up earlier than I'd like (anywhere from 5:45-7am). Sometimes he falls asleep right away, and other times he fusses and squirms for a good 20-40 min before eventually falling asleep.... I admit I do this selfishly so I can get more rest...
He will sleep an additional 45min-2hrs this way!
I worry that I am creating bad habits and possibly ruining his naps for the day because he ends up sometimes getting up at 9ish... But His naps are crap and he's not on any sort of nap schedule at all due to his crappy naps so I figure I have nothing to lose?
ETA: I'm not cuddling him while in bed; he's surrounded by pillows...so I'm hoping he doesn't associate cuddling with this time?
