Yup! Each city has their own "dominating" nationality, but overall, we're a big ole melting pot of everything.

No, not really. But in my neighborhood, there's people from other parts of Europe and I know of a few Asians that live in town. But as a country in general, no, it's a homogeneous society and it always has been. There has been a recent increase and the locals are just beginning to learn and deal with diversity. It's my hope that Swedes will be as sensitive and open-minded with race relations as they are with gender and sexual equality.

I'm in Orlando and most of it (especially where we live) I am in the minority as a white female. Mostly hispanic/latino (Cuban, Dominican, Puerto Rican seem to be the ones I know most? DH works with a lot of them and they try to explain the differences between themselves haha and try to teach him spanish!)

I've only been in our city for a few years, and while it is somewhat diverse - I wish it was less segregated.

It's actually something I've been thinking a lot about lately because if we decide to adopt (and we would be open to any race) I would like to have people in our lives that our children could relate to and go to with questions we wouldn't be able to answer.

Supposedly we have some ethnic diversity in the area (a few East/South Asian and Jewish families), which I don't really see a lot of but it's still more than what a lot of other suburbs in the region have. I guess these days that wouldn't really be considered diverse!

Not really, although I will say in the last few years it has definitely gotten better! We have a huge university where we live that brings in different cultures, and luckily our neighborhood has some diversity so our kids will see it...that is until we move to our hometown again and then it will completely reverse.

I plan on doing my best to raise them to see people for who they are not what they look like, because to be honest in our small towns racism unfortunately still lives on, and I hate it. It makes me cringe at times, luckily our families are not!

No. Ethnic hair care where I live is for anyone who has a natural color other than blond. We have to really represent diversity of all kinds in our literature, because I don't want the girls to have a geographically limited world view.

My town is split pretty evenly between being about half white and half AA.

We don't have many other races here according to our stats, but it sure seems like there are a lot of Hispanic people here.

I imagine it'd be hard to calculate it though because we're a military base so people are always coming and going.

pretty much so. i live in vancouver.

when i worked on the west side of the city, over half my students were mixed kids (mostly a chinese + caucasian mix). i thought that was so interesting! it's so normal in that neighbourhood! i guess i shouldn't be too surprised cause my own LO's are the same mix as well :) nice to know they definitely won't be the only ones in the city.

Moderately. The African-American population is admittedly rather low, especially in comparison to where I went to college. However, we live in a very liberal city that celebrates diversity, in every which way, so it works out.

No :-( I've always lived in pretty diverse places before, but now I live in rural Iowa, so there is very little diversity. I do work in a college town, so there is a fair amount of diversity associated with the college, but as soon as you get away from the college bubble it is the whitest place I have every lived.

I live in one of the most culturally diverse areas of Brooklyn! I actually think I read somewhere that it's the most ethnically diverse area of Brooklyn.

ETA: I live in a building that is primarily Polish and Russian. Our neighborhood playground looks like the United Nations: women in hijabs, Orthodox Jewish women, women in saris; we have a lot of Central American, South Asian, Chinese, Irish, Italian, and Caribbean people.
