@Dandelion: I am hoping that is what is going to happen to me. I have been really trying since LO was born and it's barely budging. Only 2 more months!

@meredithNYC: Gaining the weight again is also not thrilling to me either. I've worked so hard to get it down. Having it go up again will be a bit sad. Then, I'll have to work to get it down again. I enjoy the hard work of getting it down right now. Maybe that will be my motivator the next time.

I gained a ton of weight breastfeeding and under a lot of stress. Once I started WW, the weight came off easier than I thought. My body didn't like being 200+ lbs. Right now, I'm struggling to get to goal weight. I'm about 5 lbs away, but the weather and wanted comfort food during the winter has made it hard. I want to lose about 15 lbs more before conceiving LO #2. Following WW has been the only way that I'm really able to watch my food intake and be responsible for it.

I had LO at 32, so my metabolism was already working against me long before I had him. I'm hoping if I stick to WW throughout the next pregnancy and after, I'll be able to be at a happy weight.

Not sure, but it certainly seems that way. In my case, it may be age, too, since I'm 32. We are supposed to TTC this summer, but honestly I am dreading being pregnant again. I just don't want to have to gain the dreaded weight and then worry about losing it.

Yes - after baby #1 it wasn't bad, but after baby #2 it feels even harder (maybe an age thing too then since I was older when I had #2).

It could also be the exhaustion and lack of time that contributes to a lack of motivation to workout and eat right... or when I am motivated, I don't push myself as hard because I'm so tired all the time!

For me; YESSSSSSSSSSSS.

Some of it is pregnancy related: I had really bad abdominal wall separation and was on very restricted exercise for well over a year post partum. A freaking year. When I finally got do real intense ab/core work outs, I discovered that I have an “embedded nerve” from the c-section, so intense ab work is very painful and will continue to be. Light/moderate is fine; thankfully, but it sucks to not be able to really hit it hard once I finally got my doctor’s clearance. It took months for all my retained water and swelling to go away. Those things don’t help matters.

Age plays a lot too – in my 20’slosing a few pounds was so freaking easy. My 30’s are a totally different ballgame.

I think some of it is your individual body too – I feel like my body was really holding onto weight post partum. On maternity leave I would walk miles every.single.day with LO in the stroller or in a carrier and wasn’t eating much because I was stressed out and I lost NO weight. Now at 1.5 years pp, the weight is finally starting to shed at a good pace; but more than that, my body shape is getting more defined again.

Working full time hinders weight loss too. I don’t have as much time to exercise as I would if I was home with LO full time.

@looch: @blackbird: I'm only 24! My age *should* theoretically be prime for losing weight or staying in shape but I have a really hard time. I eat really well too, but between work and school finding time to exercise is difficult. I didn't exercise a ton before baby though either.

yep age and baby have affected me, as well as taking fertility meds I think since I've gained a bit doing them both times. it's so easy to gain and so hard to lose now! I just started metformin for PCOS and I'm hoping it helps me lose a little.

I think it's mostly an age thing. I pack fat on easier in my late 20's than my mid or early 20's. We need less calories as we age, our metabolism slows down, and we don't factor that in. 1-2 years can make a big difference, even if you don't have a baby. I've had to be a lot more strict to get the weight off, which is not uncommon, and change my approach to nutrition pretty drastically. If a good amount of weight is not coming off, something needs to change. I have to remind myself this constantly! I think BFing adds a whole, weird, hormonal factor to it, though, that I can't address!

It's harder in the aspect that I don't have as much time, though!

Yes, once I weaned I gained a few pounds. I think a lot of it has to do with my level of activity though. Pre-baby I worked out a whole lot more than I do now. I'm also 33, so I think that hasn't helped either.

Not sure if it's post pregnancy or age. I lost about 45 lbs when I was in my early 20's and now that I'm creeping up on 30 I think age plays a pretty big factor. Regardless, I have not been able to lose these last 20 lbs or pregnancy weight!!

Honestly, I haven't really tried. When I was sick for two weeks and didn't have much of an appetite, I lost a surprising amount of weight really quickly.

Of course, now I've gained most of it back. So...maybe? But I wasn't trying to keep it off--no working out and no watching what I eat.

So I don't know.

It's just so much harder for me to find time and energy to cook healthy meals and exercise regularly. Before LO, I worked out for 60 minutes 5x/week, high intensity. Now I'm lucky if I have energy for a short job once a week!
