About a month ago we had temps in the mid to high 80's for about a week and a half and I fought the urge to turn on the AC. I had all the windows open and fans running but I'm too cheap to turn on my AC in March! A normal winter goes "32 in the morning, 80 in the afternoon." So with the constant change in temp, 80 feels like 1000 degrees and you're profusely sweating by the end of the day. But we almost never run the heat. Ever. We just throw an extra blanket on the bed because the house doesn't get below 65 or so because it can get so hot and sunny in the afternoon.<br /> So the bills probably even out in the end. I might have a $500 heating/cooling bill in the summer, but it might be $50 in the winter. </p> <p>We actually have an extra portable A/C unit in our bedroom during the summer months because we have such a large attic space, our house can get ungodly hot during the summer.
