My DD is almost 7 months and wakes up 1-2x a night to nurse. Not sure how to get to her STTN. But I don't mind getting up once or twice though. Call me crazy but sometimes I enjoy it! They're only this little for so long. I remember when I stopped nursing my son, i was so sad. I missed the bonding experience so I'm trying to enjoy it with my DD. Once or twice a night is ok. But 3+ is way too much.

It is completely normal for a baby to continue waking to nurse well into the first year.... Primarily because nursing isn't just about nutrition and because nursing babies don't always get the same calories during the day, especially during distracting/busy days.

As long as she's getting enough ounces in during the day she should physically be able to sttn. M is 12 weeks and consistently sleeps ten hours straight at night.

I would think so... Also it depends on what you consider a "night." If that's a 12 hr period..seems average to me given that they say babies can "STTN" meaning five hours usually by 9 mo... (or is it less than 9? Either way 6 would be within it..)

Girl my kid 12 months old and often eats 2-4x at night!! I sleep trained him at 6 months just to help him learn to fall asleep, and he was still up 2x at night... he's finally starting to STTN now at almost a year!

Totally! I think it was still a month or two beyond that that LO finally went to one night feeding ... And he didn't STTN until 12
Months!

I know E CAN sleep for 10+ hours without waking up to eat, but he doesn't go that long very often. Usually he wakes up sometime between 5-7 hours, nurses, and then conks back out for another 4-5 hours. Even when he sleeps 9-10 hours I can nurse him first thing in the AM and put him back down for another 2 hours.

I haven't tried letting him CIO during those wake-ups or offer him a pacifier. He's been really distracted when he nurses during the day and I feel like he's not eating as much but I know I have his full attention/concentration at night. Don't know what's normal or not, but you're not alone!

From what I've read on the La Leche website, yep it's completely normal!

If you're not cool with it you could try gradually reducing the duration of one of the feeds so that eventually it's not worth baby waking up and she weans herself off it.

DS is about the same age. He was sttn but got sick and is now up 2-3 times on a good night. Normally I'd let him CIO at least 10 mins but he has been losing some weight so I get up to nurse him.

LO will be 6 months old at the end of the month. We sleep trained her and she is doing pretty well with that, however, she still wakes up about twice a night to nurse. I'm trying not to compare but I have some friends with babies LO's age or younger and they STTN without eating at all. I am just wondering if this is normal, and at what age is it not?
